Mrs.T - suzuki vanvan 125cc set off at just before 9am to Fareham, about 145miles away this route. Top speed 65 (though I saw her do 71 on it once) Cruising speed 50.

Me - yamaha fazer 1000cc - cruising speed national speed limit, top speed - go directly to jail do not pass go.

I'm giving her a 2hr 15 minute head start, how much ground do you think I will make up on her before she arrives?

Haha. I had a friend at uni bought a Honda (I think) 125. From the top floor of the block it looked brilliant, fairings and everything. Then we went downstairs to look at it and it came up to about my knees.

He did a few hundred-mile runs like that, and had to be brought back in a van. When we tore it down, we found one of the valves had snapped off, dropped into the engine, and the piston had rammed it through the cylinder wall.

In the end I gave her a two hour head start and she beat me by almost 30minutes.

I am very proud of my wife, quite a big undertaking for someone who only lost the l-plates less than a year ago to ride so far solo. :)

My wish is to get a job, so that i can save to buy her a 250cc that will maintain 70mph in all conditions.

Or I suppose a 500 Enfield, would be sub 33bhp too, but. 250 i think.

depends when your going.. FA cup tomorrow ? as both northern teams will be visiting tomorrow down the M1 no doubt.

I had someone I knew driving like a nutter against me a few years back going to the same place.. even though they sped past me.. they took all the main roads = got all the traffic lights...

I was waiting for them when they arrived  .. they were shocked I'd got there faster, as I knew another route without so many traffic lights.

Fareham crops up quite often in your motor bike journey related postings. What's so exiting about Fareham??

This is why my 125 is a 2 stroke, no valves to drop out into the cylinder :)

It also looks like a Ducati because it was designed by the same guy.
