I think we all know my answer by now ;)

Being serious though, what is the trojan, how do you know you have one, what files is it known to infect etc. :p

i dont get any backdoor action but plenty of frontdoor, basically using the forefinger and thumb nip it at the base and in one whip of the wrist it should come clean off, no mess i hope.

With a combination of malware bytes and avast...

Or get Brad Pitt. But watch out for arrows.

Running msconfig in safe mode and stopping anything loading that looks dodgy.

Copy your data to an external source and run a virus scan on it from a machine that is not infected. Reset the BIOS on the infected machine and then reinstall Windows, being sure to recreate the hard disk partition. Install Microsoft Security Essentials and ensure all patches and updates are applied. Reinstall all your applications. Copy your scrubbed data back from the external drive. Anything less than that and the Trojan could still be lurking.

If you have an offline archive of the system prior to infection you can restore that once you've dealt with the BIOS and formatted the hard disk. Otherwise you're SOL.

    does it name the trojan?

maybe stinger or something from norton etc will get rid of it.

if you can detect it, thats a good sign.. if you can't get rid normally.. try booting in safe mode offline.. see if you can get rid that way.

(there is the thing with turning off sys restore and using safe mode.. also)

some thing I have gives a false positive due to the code.

but lots of things will get rid probably, spybot is another thing as well as anti malware. but I'd see how you get on in safe mode with both.
