C5 Clive was something of a guilty pleasure for me during the day....my local Superdrug carried a small number of speccy games at bargain prices and I remember picking up C5 Clive for around three quid. Not the best game in the world in that the graphics and movement weren't great...but a pleasant game and a fun concept.
You try reading anything in the later issues of Sinclair User.... ;)
Later issues of all British Spectrum magazines were thin on content to say the least. The fact that the Spectrum as a marketable machine managed to survive almost until the begin of the IBM compatible PCs mass diffusion era was a miracle in itself, but it also meant that it was degraded to a gaming console for younger users most of the times - and the dumbed-down magazines just reflected that, with the better resources employed for coverage of 16-bit systems.

Got it when it came on the S.U. tape....

what keeps you going on it's THE MYSTERY. anything could happen. usually nothing.
These games are not rubbish! Far from it.
If you would care to read the instructions, probably you would know what to expect  (These were, and are, among my favorite kind of games.)

Because as I stated, I got it free with Sinclair User, so all I had was their rubbish instructions....I was one of those poor younger users! :D
As shockingly bad as it sounds.
And also shockingly addictive.
