Never trusted that gaylord. I'd use him as a "human" shield, or better yet send him off in front to mop some of the inevitable sub-cronies that the next boss will throw out.

That really is quite funny :-)

I only used the Eye of Truth to find that underground level in Kariako Village when you're Adult Link..

You can also use it in that treasure chest shop by the castle as it shows you what's inside each chest. A heart piece is at the very end ;-)

    Found this....

I've bunged it on my Facebook page so a few of you might have seen it already, but I thought it was pretty good :)

Bit worrying the way that the kid doesn't blink at all too

    Yes, but that's cheating!

Let's see you get that heart without cheating :-P

I'm still trudging through the Water Temple. I found it a little easier this time (I've got to Dark Link) as they have colour coded the locations of the water "switches" which has made it a whole lot easier to find my way around. I should get this one finished tonight, then I'm going to set about looking for heart pieces and doing a spot of fishing (I've not tried that on the 3DS yet)

I've managed to get it without cheating..

I will admit to having used a walkthough to get through the N64 Water Temple..

I'm still waiting for my 3DS to arrive - got the game waiting to be used!

I never completed the Water temple last night because I couldn't beat the boss! This anoyed me alot as I found this boss to be one of the easiest on the N64. But, I just couldn't get the "ball" to com out of the water and stay around long enough to hit it! The bloody thing kept bouncing off the sides of the pool (or Link) and going back into the water. when I did get it out, it moved away too fast. I think I only managed 5 or 6 hits and I had 2 bottled faries with me too.

I think Nintendo have messed around with more than just the graphics ;-)

I think that boss was particulally tricky to do on the original..

Nope. I had a little trouble the first time I played it, but on my second playthrough, I beat him without getting hit at all. He's a real sod now.

AND I still can't win that bloody horse :-(

Your powers grow weak, old man! ;)

Just joking...but seriously, I think your (and my own!) skills must have deteriorated slightly with age. I'm in the Shadow Temple now, but I found that Water Temple boss to be a right swine to beat on the 3DS....just couldn't seem to grab it with the Longshot at all and when I did it'd either escape, or I'd be grabbed by the other tentacle. First time when I did it years ago on N64, it seemed p!ss easy.

I put it down to the screen being smaller and my eyesight being worse these days. Yes. That's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it. :D

Got my 3DS yesterday, played Ocarina 3D and loved it! Only done the first boss so far but it is very good.

    Liked the 3D effects too.

I'l freely admit that as I get older, my games playing skills are getting worse :(

I play like this now...

You had the same trouble with that boss as i'm having. He just doesn't want to come out of the water here. I can get him out a couple of times, but he always manages rto get out of the way of my sword before I can hit him and most of the time I ened up running into those tenticle things. He was much easier on the N64 as i could beat him pretty much without taking any damage at all!

I've just found my old N64 guide to this, ?3.95, cheap at half the price.

I've still got mine. I last saw it when I had a clear out of some old magazines. I know I kept it, but I've no idea where it is. Shame as it would come in handy about now!

    Good vid. :)

    Bump...

I finally completed it last night. Ganondorf was incredibly easy in both fights, I'm sure I really struggled on the N64.

    Now to do Master Quest...
  • And it only took you 14 months! :-P

I completed the original quest on the 3DS a month ago, I'm on Master Quest now and I've gotten to the Forest Temple level.

Oh that's nothing new with me, I like to take my time with games :-) (excuse for being rather crap at gaming)

Dark Souls I've played religiously since release date (late last year) and I'm still only about 60% through it after 110 hours!!

I would estimate that Skyrim will take you about 30 years to finish then :)

The exception to the rule - took me about 7 weeks!

Though the fact I was off work for six weeks with two broken arms over last Christmas probably helped! (I was still able to use a controller - just!)

Reminds me when my aunt let me borrow her (then) new NES in 1992 - I slipped on the school bus and broke three of my fingers - my right hand was wrapped up for two weeks.

As for length of time, I've been playing Final Fantasy VIII for ten years and never completed it (I've got Skyrim and aim to start it at some point).

Some of the original N64 game WAS a struggle. I remember using a guide to help get through the Forest Temple on the N64 but the only one I used a guide on with the 3DS was the Water Temple.

I found the water temple to be much easier on the 3DS as they colour coded various bits, so it was easier to remember where the water raising/lowering things were. I found the boss to be much harder in this version though and I still can't win that bastard horse race :(
