The ST was the far superior machine for musicians. Because of its connectivity. Sound output was as good as what was plugged in to it. Sampler's, drum machines, etc.
The ST was a serious tool for music. I don't know of any musician that bought an Amiga over an ST. Onboard chip sound was never used.
The Amiga was the better games/family machine, though I always prefered the analogue quality of the SID filters in the original C64. The C64c was awful, filters in different range.
If you want to hear what the ST can do, just listen to chart music from the time, as they were used in 99% of recording studios for sequencing samples.
So was the Spectrum when compared to the C64's SID chip, doesn't mean they can't be enjoyed for what they are.
I'm not sure I suggested otherwise.
I think you might be misinterpreting what I said as an attack on the ST, rather than an light hearted observation based on the memories of that era. I certainly didn't mean it in a mean spirited way.

The STE had sound as good as, if not better than the Amiga. Just a shame it came along so late and wasn't used often enough.
My primary reason is worry over the legality of using the music. I also have less time now, as I have a lot of retro projects I'm doing art for.
Well, thanks for all the podcasts! Thoroughly enjoyed them! Good luck with all your future projects, and don't be a stranger...stick yir head into the forums from time to time! :)

If you have a link to a player/files then I'll gladly use them.
Exotica has a search facility on the modland collection (which include tracks from many systems in many formats):

Blood Money can be found at:

and Barbarian at:

The ST tracks that use the inbuilt YM2149 chip may be playable in whatever software you use for Spectrum chiptune playback if not LGD has some advice:

If you have any more ST recommendations, let me know.
Loved the show, even though you couldn't resist being snide about playing an ST track.
Which seems strange because you quite happily play Spectrum tunes without resorting to damning with faint praise.
Let's be realistic, the poor thing didn't have a chance compared to what the Amiga was pumping out at the time.

Curious to know why you are podfading.
Managed to grab all the episodes thankfully, rapidshare was behaving itself today.
