Dozy git just phoned my ex and had a rant at her (he's braver than I am!).

Some people should make sure 'personal' details are up to date!!

I've emailed codies & elite, as well as complaining (again) to his host.

Find it funny as anything the other spammer talking about taking legal action when hes the one selling a cd with many illegal games on it. Even if somehow he did take that guy to court about posting his address etc, then how about the anti spam laws in the UK ? How about Codemasters taking action etc ?

    Crazy.

He's not contacted me since - so either he's realised that he was in the wrong, and about to commit a grave mistake, or his account's been terminated.

Hopefully it's both. Twattocks like him don't deserve a net connection.

Well firstly don't spam a board with adverts.
Secondly, don't use members email addresses as your own mailing list.
    Thirdly, don't sell copyrighted material
Fourthly, dont claim to have legal advice when you obvioulsy haven't.
Fifthly, when shown the error of your ways, and you have replied by saying you meant no offence, don't then in a matter of hours reverse track and start selling again.

See what i mean about hastie?

    TO START:
The Spectrum issues you point out are all new to me and seem very confusing, ive just been informed by DUNNY that there is a specific list of Denide titles, and baring that no other restrictions to supply some games.

HANDS UP: Yes emailing was the wrong thing to do, Lessons learnt from that, but unless someone point you in the right direction, how can you make things right. We are not BORN with the (WOS) faith you know.

You should also check with the authors of the emulators.

One other suggestion - re-register with a new name & join the forum properly. You will find that we are generally a friendly lot, but also passionate about what we are doing.

Now - off I go to delete some addresses & skip away into the sunset..

You should also check with the authors of the emulators.

there are 3 emulators on the CD 2 (full) freeware and 1(Demo) shareware, aproved for distribution, that was checked out prior to project development.

BY WAY OF RECOMPENCE / Explanation:

Yes i accept there is great need for some educational improvment on this subject i must admit.

    (Chapter1)
In my mind, I just wanted to PROMOTE, and bring life back to spectrum awarness
and i know there is demand for it. My induction to the WOS forum was nothing short of pathetic.
I am a speccy fan, I see it as part of my heritage. The only reason I visited your forum in the first place was simply to aim at marketing my product. i have never been to a forum b4, and now appreciate how dedicated you all are. I just would like to be able to go about developing the project without causing offence to any member or author of any specific title. I am now aware that there are titles free for distribution and some not. im not really interested in developing strong realations, just ensuring that i'm going about my project in the right way. in my mind, i just want to PROMOTE, and bring life back to Spectrum awarness, in particular in th UK, its not about profit, if i can make life easier for people to acccess thos nostalgic years of the specrum then saticfaction for me is adequate. Spectrum speaks to me "my first computer" "my childhood" and I hold fond membories of this and wish to keep them alive. I know that many will see me as a Troll, but once a Troll not necessary ALWAYS a troll. im happy for your comments, and thank you for your time, and apologise if I have offended any member of (WOS). I am more likely in the future make good use the (WOS) site and hope that any contribution i make regarding my project development, will be equally respected. (Learn as we must)
    S. Nunn.
    (yours forgivness)

Troll 2005, you obviously registered with your sights set firmly on the future. It's still 2004 you know, but perhaps you mean to stick on then? Very forward thinking I say. Well done!

OOI (out of idiocy in this case), is your CD still available with all the denied games on it?

  • edited November 2004
fogartylee's list of don't is a good start, but don't forget the other obvious ones:
    - all software in the archive is still fully copyrighted by their respective publishers/authors and I highly doubt they gave you permission to sell their titles.
    - don't sell other people's work; I don't remember you ever contributing anything, so why try to cash in on the work of others?
    - apart from the games that are denied distribution, there is a good amount of titles for which we have exclusive distribution rights. You never asked us (but then, you'd never get it anyway, for the above reasons).

The CD shall is not to be done away with, but shall recieve an overall. to complete rid of any title not listed on the wos site and any title tlisted on the "Denied list" http://tzxvault.retrogames.com/denied.htm will be deleted with immeadiate effect. so until this is done yes, the CD is suspended

Not just a new sleeve, but an entire outfit?
  • edited November 2004
One other thing - although many authors have allowed distribution, many don't want them on compilation cd's. Most would be happy to have them available for download, but you would need to check with them first.

Also, permission for WOS to have them does not mean that other sites also have permission. This is something else you would need to check.

Although the CD would be 'not for profit', you are still selling the games. Again, permission would need to be granted.

Its all a bit of a minefield i'm afraid..

oops - just read Martijn's post above. Great minds think alike!!

The project is not about profit is a hobby/ a way of making a contribution.

At this stage of the project its difficult to address every question relating to the rights and wrongs of our project, with time I hope that errors can be made right and soon will be able to offer a product that is acceptable to developers and authors, (not just games, but reviews and stories, and hope that authors alike will come forward in assisting us with the project, so that there work and contributions can be included on the CD-rom thus promoting and advertising there efforts
and supporting the whole community of ZX.
I'm not asking to become a special figure, just want to ensure that im not stepping on anyones toe's.

Troll, if you are really serious about making good use of WoS, you may want to consider these points:

    1) Forget the CD. It's not going to help, really. To make it truly legit, community supported thing you'll need to tie-up with WoS since it has the most of the distribution grants that has been given out. There is little chance of this happening though for obvious legal and moral reasons.

    2) We are all here for nostalgic reasons and fond memories of our Speccy. We also pride ourselves on the fact that we are part of one of the few (if not only) sites that has some kind of official support (Amstrad in this case). We'd like to see it kept that way and distribution of denied mateial (esp. for profit) is certainly not going to help the cause. Note: We = Specchums.

    3) Change your username to something more sensible. Re-register, log on and start exchanging ideas with other Specchums. You could even help with some community efforts!

    4) Having a shed will improve your image in the community vastly! So, if you have one, say so now!

EDIT: Dropped some trite bits and added others. Really. :)
