I'd like to see them in their own sections to emulate the layout of the magazine. Something that's going to be as large as the reviews section is only going to benefit from being split into smaller sub-sections (IMO of course!).
Can't wait to see the finished results. I'm not saying this to dump on anyone else's worthy projects, but this is the first new project in a number of years that's got me excited about the Speccy scene again!
Now all we need is something similar but on the iPad....like Flipboard maybe. :P
1) Download all the pages of an issue of Crash via FTP
2) Zip them into a single file, and rename it from .zip to .cbz
3) Install CloudReaders (free) on your iPad
4) Transfer the CBZ file to your iPad via iTunes
5) Open the file in CloudReaders and enjoy!

There was a retro-site, I can't remember which one now, that was converting CRASH scans into PDF with some OCR so you could do a text search. Seems to me that would be the preferred option if you're going to look at them on a tablet as the original layout is preserved.
This is part of a series of supplements released with CRASH in the run-up to issue 48. I haven't yet decided whether to release a separate ebook for each year, or whether to combine them all into one. I think I'd prefer to combine them, but the file size might get a bit on the big side.

Just got around to downloading this and the other one and they are really excellent! My old, well-worn issues of CRASH are filed away and don't see daylight much so this is really appreciated.
I think you've found a really good balance between keeping the feel of the content while making it work on a small format. I hope you'll continue with these.
Dunno if anyone's mentioned this but I on a HTC Desire and using the Amazon Kindle the scores for games are displayed thus:
Playability 9-
1-
%
Getting 9-
started 3-
%
(Posting this messes up how it should look, all the scores are underneath one another)
Someone might have mentioned it already but I've gotta get ready for work so can't check! :)
Thanks for the feedback. (Also thanks to those upthread who have had encouraging words for this project.)
Does it seem like the HTC is wrapping the text because all the horizontal space is used up? Or is there plenty of white space left over, and the display is just getting mangled anyway?
Thanks for the mag, it is rather spiffing. I second comments that it would be great to have all the issues regardless of how they are filed in the Kindle rather than not have them at all - I've only installed the Kindle app for reading Crash in any case :)
As long as we are mentioning oddities, the Crash 13 issue on the iPhone version of the Kindle app has "MIKRO-GEN’s" and "the threat of VAT — adventures" rather than the appropriate characters appearing. It would be lovely if these could be patched up.

I can't quite tell from your description what's going wrong. I guess you're talking about the apostrophe and the dash. Is this in the table of contents (like the top picture at http://www.crashonline.org.uk/13/kindle/ ) ?

Hmm, I see my painstakingly-typed symbols have been translated to their valid HTML.
Maybe the app is having a problem with the unicode and the more traditional html codes would work?
Well, my original files, which are XML, are using (what should be) the most compatible declarations about - & #8212; and & #8217;. (Spaces added to prevent the forum from converting them.) Then I run kindlegen to produce the mobipocket file - presumably it's not doing any conversions, since the entities are showing up undecoded on the iPhone. The characters display OK on a real Kindle, so the files and the conversion can't be completely broken.
I'll try generating a version using & mdash; and & rsquo; later.

There just seems to be one seeder for the torrents on the site (i.e. the author of the site presumably). S-L-O-W!

Wow, that wasn't the one I was thinking of - It's better! I'll be downloading most of the torrents and seeding for as long I can to help out.

Wow, that's a fantastic site. Thanks! Great work with the Kindle files btw, they look good on the iPad, I'll check them out on my Kindle later!
Is it possible to get some kind of screenshot or photo?

Yes, those are the characters I mean, see screenshots for examples:

Sounds like a fault in the app, to be honest. I'll see if there are any work-arounds.

Thanks, I've submitted a bug to Amazon.

Now you're just showing off! :P But the display does look super clear and crisp. Almost as good as the Samsung Galaxy S2!

Don't know why I missed this earlier, but just added issue 13 to my Kindle and am loving it.
Thanks for doing this.
This made it fail on the real Kindle.
Changes:
1. Tentative change which might affect the HTC rendering problem. Feedback welcome on whether this actually makes any difference or not.
2. Show the issue number in the "Sections & Articles" view.
3. Split "CRASH Course" and "Adventure Trail" into their own sections.
4. Populate the text in the "Articles List".
5. One or two other tiny formatting tweaks.
(Jetman is still in, for now.)

That's a relief, I didn't have any other ideas for how to fix it. 8-)
