Anyone here got/played Football Manager 2011? My brother's thinking of getting it for my xmas this year. Just wonder what any wossers think of the game. Is it better than Championship Manager?
I found the Football Managers a natural transition from the Championship Managers in the mid 2000's sometime - they've added more and more elements and tweaks year after year. Last one I got was FM2010 (duh, obviously - Ed). It's moved with the times quite accurately in that all the good players are overpaid primadonnas who complain a lot and always want to leave! You can get involved in the tactics, press and player interaction sides to a ridiculous level of detail (which takes ages to play games) but you can leave a lot of it to your assistant manager if you want.
Well I haven't answered your question but I'm probably not going to get FM2011 as I don't want my life sapped away too much over the next year..! If someone gave me a couple of months off work it might be another matter.. :-D
I usually buy them every 2 years but I've been playing 2009 for a loong while now...
I'm not sure My PC will hold a newer version and 2009 is a pretty good one, although to be fair, it might get frustrated in a tactic level... they made a few changes and for once, I never seem to get my strikers to score...
2011 seems top... if you buy it, tell me if it's worth it!
Football Manager is the successor to Championship Manager. It's the same engine underneath. What is now Champ Man is only the name...they diverged in about 2005.
I like it. Got it when it came out and been playnig it since.
The 3D pitch is amazing even if you have a semi-decent GPU. The tactical side is pretty deep...
The training, I'm told, is pretty highly configurable - but I never delve too deep in to this side of the game.
Well worth a buy, unless like VanTammen says you can get hold of 2012 instead...

I didn't know 2012 was out yet. Hmm, i may go for that instead.
