The Sam is sadly a no-go area for WoS - whenever any reference is posted, it immediately results in a take-down request.
As such, we have to pretend this machine never existed. :-(
BTW ... why not just add "Also available on the Sam Coupe" in the Additional info section? Or at least for now until a link can be established with sam's world.
I am the author and I have granted permission on the worldofsam site. That permission is not limited to worldofsam, but I am happy to explicitly extend the permission to worldofspectrum.
Note that I was only after a mention of a SAM version of Sophistry in the 'Additional info' section as mentioned by ZnorXman. Possibly the other platforms part of 'Additional info' could be normalized to allow searches on 'also available on platform x' - but that's not very related to this thread.

Hi Stefan.
Say, you don't happen to know who the authors were who made Sophistry for the Speccy?

TFMG & TEBS ?
No, sorry. As mentioned on the worldofsam site I was provided with source code (by Bob Brenchley) who was apparently behind the original concept. The SAM disk inlay contains a reference to NationSoft - who I am going to assume was Bob:
Revelation Software is pleased to bring you its latest licensed game for the SAM family of computers. Sophistry was originally marketed for the Spectrum in 1988 by CRL who licensed it, as we have, from NationSoft.
The disk also has a label containing strange mentions:
Game Design (C) 1987 Nationsoft Ltd.
Spectrum Version (C) 1988 CRL
And I simply included them in the SAM credits:
The source code soon proved to not be the final thing so I ended up writing a disassembler to disassemble the final spectrum code and continued with the conversion from there.
I'm just perusing my SAM disk box to see if I still have the original source listing which could provide clues... but I no longer have a 3.5" drive handy (SAM's in the attic) and my last PC with a disk drive is gathering dust in a corner...
Will get back on this later. Glad to see the SAM reference in Infoseek!
Well that was fun. Fired up my last PC with a floppy hooked up a monitor and keyboard and started browsing through my disk box with samdisk and simcoupe. And, just like in the old days, spent / wasted most of my time listening to mods on the disks. Floppy space used to be valuable and I was a big mod junkie so even my source disks have a mod or two floating around on them.
The only Sophistry sources I found are the ones that started out from the disassembled speccy code. I have another disk box or two lying around in the attic (I think), so to be continued... (but not tonight).
Nationsoft is listed in WOS as a publisher with four MIA titles all based on one advert in Popular Computing Weekly with an address in Gloucester. Which looks very much like the Format address in another advert.
Interesting... and no I haven't dared to go up into the attic yet... ;-)

I wrote the officially licensed conversion...
Here's a quote from the worldofsam site:
"I encourage you to link to this web site from yours."
Is it a technical issue? As I notice they mention also that they fool around with the URLs (for whatever reason).
As an example, have a look at this old thread.
As I'd rather do without this headache, the Sam Coupe will have to stay off-limits for WoS.

Sophistry is the first one to be listed!

Clem's memory is a bit patchy though, maybe someone knows how to contact Robert T Smith to verify?
and yes, he's the guy that did all those war sims.
