Anyone fancy a quickie?

What are the shortest games to complete?

I nominate Sooty and Sweep which takes about 5 minutes.

Atic Atac, once you've got a rough idea of what to do. Anything under 6 minutes I consider a good run.

Saboteur at first levels, with a bit of practice, is a short game.

I can do the same with Underwurlde if I exploit the "guardian bug".
    ...it's simi-cheating of course - but still fun. ;)

    Of course.

Normally the game will force you to go a pretty long and twisty route to get the weapons needed to kill the guardians, but if you go the closest one and get real close to it....this close.

    underwurldeguardianbug.gif

...and wait a while - then if you're lucky the next batch of enemies will bounce you right through the guardian. That way you don't have to go hunting for those special weapons.

If it doesn't work you'll be bounced into the room on the right, but then you just walk up to the guardian again and repeat it until you've been bounced through it.

Then it's just 20-30 screeens to the exit and once you know the route you can do it in 5-10 minutes. Tops.

Wasn't there someone in Crash's Hall of Slime who claimed to have completed Bugaboo in about six seconds?

I maybe clouded here by the mists of time but couldn't Heavy on the Magick be completed (or maybe it was the first level) in a very small number of moves?

I don't think it takes very long to cycle Death Star Interceptor.

Couldn't Mercenary be completed really quickly? I think near the start there was a ship shaped like a triangle block of cheese that could zoom up to the awaiting mothership. Summat like that anyway, never did particularly like the game. Damocles on the other hand...

weren't there some adventure games, you could just type in the soultion and it'd jump right to the end.

kinda like 'n,w,e, open door, e, s, w, slay elf'
  • edited August 2011
yeah you can type ahead like that on The Hobbit but there is random element with certain characters like the Wood Elf and the odd Goblin in a location where he usually is not so i would use it only in certain locations.I am sure there may be a few other adventure games.

Dunno about that, but Daren put up an animated GIF of it being completed in 19 seconds!

That gif was made from the RZX, so it's legit. The RZX download also contains a 28 second walkthrough: http://www.rzxarchive.co.uk/p.php#pulga

It's called "La Pulga" on the RZX Archive, it's original Spanish name.

    With GAC-created adventures you could.

RoboCop, when completed a few times, can be done relatively quickly for such high profile game.

Little Puff in Dragonland takes all of about 5 - 10 mins once you know which item does what and where to find them. Main problem with that game is you only get one life and it can be easy to balls up and have to start over again.

Olli & Lissa, Beach Head 1 & 2, Raid (Over Moscow) and Rambo: First Blood Part 2 can be completed quickly too once you've had a bit of practice at them and know what to do.

I tried in vain to complete Rambo, i always died after i got the prisoner untied in the base. Still a good game though.

Once you've got to grips with it, it's pretty much just run up to the camp, free Colonel Trautman at the prison camp, run up some more until you get to the helicopter, fly back to the prison camp, free the rest of the POWs (run up to the cage with your knife equipped), then back to the helicopter, fly all the way up to the army base, land and it's all over in the space of about 8 mins. :p

There's long been reports that there's a bug in the game (it crashes if you shoot the enemy helicopter?) but I'm pretty sure that it was fine on the Hit Squad re-release I had...either way, I was able to finish it a few times back in the day....haven't played it for a while now though.

The bugged code is also present in the Hit Squad re-release available at WoS.

You can find the technical details here.

Assuming you're a cyborg sent from the future and are able to memorise the ridiculous, 'Jack and the Beanstalk' can be completed in 2.5 minutes.

That game was stupidly hard. I can still remember the scrollng text at the beginning as well. 'Jack and his mother were poor...' The scars are still there!
