The Singapore Theory...

edited September 2011 in Chit chat
Happy Halloween, folks.

The Singapore Theory is an album of my music. I've not had the bottle to stick a whole CD's worth of stuff up before, but I finally figured "what the hey?", so here it is. It's my third stab at a concept album of sorts (which, with instrumental music, is either really tricky or really easy, depending on how you look at it), the concept being ghosts and the supernatural, so I thought today would be an appropriate day to upload it, being Halloween and all. Genre-wise, it's breakbeat/electronica... there are a few tracks uploaded to my YouTube channel (in my sig link) in case anyone wants to get the gist of it all first.

Anyways, if anyone's interested, here's a wee link:
http://www.mediafire.com/?roc23abgp788r7o (12 files, 67.04MB, 192kbps, no password)

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Enjoy.

    Cheers, Mr Bearman. :-)

Word of warning to everyone though, you may want to turn the volume down for the start of track 8 if you've got young kids around... it might freak them out a wee bit.

really enjoyed that Greencard! didn't know what to expect. definitely liking the synthy/funky 80's film soundtrack vibe (well, IMO). my favourite track is 'Into The Night'. thanks for sharing the album...

Just listened to this all the way through, it's good you're a talented geezer Mr. Greencard.

Some of the tunes aren't really my cup of tea, but would be excellent to sample for other things. Necromancer and Into the Night are absolutely perfect tunes for breaking to, might have to get them on a CD and get the lino and the ghetto blaster out when the wife goes to uni

Some of the tunes actually reminded me of Streets of Rage as well (not sure if you'd consider that a good or a bad thing?) :D

thanks. I've just listened to it through speakers for the first time and somehow it sounds out of tune, yet through headphones I didn't notice that?...weird. oh well just an experiment:-)

It sounded fine to me.

The reversed snare (if that's what it is) at the start comes in a fraction too late though... ;)

hmm, a lot of it is probably a little bit 'out' tbh...Ive got cool edit pro, which isnt really a music making prog. looking into getting FL Studio 9 though, heard some good things...

what do you use to make stuff on, out of interest?

My PC is extremely naff, and I can't use the stuff I would like to use (Reason, Pro Tools etc.), so I'm making do with Orion Pro (for midi stuff and sequencing), Soundforge (for editing samples) and ACID (for slapping it all together and recording all the live guitar bits).

ah right..yeah I noticed some of it like bass guitar stuff sounds like it's played live...

Yeah, all of the bass guitar parts are live. Some of the six-string bits are looped though, as I'm a bit crap on a six-string really.

Not bad at all fella - could (and just have in fact) happily had that piping away in the background

The pick of the bunch for me was Necromancer, though honourable mentions for White Noise, Anneleise and In Memorium as well

Excellent! Glad you liked it dude.

Anneliese is one I wasn't too sure about, to be honest. Almost took that off the final copy, but by that point it already had the outro bit that went into the next song, so it fit in there quite snugly.

In Memoriam is dedicated to our good friend Joffa, and is the only song where I played everything live with just one take for each track, so I'm fairly proud of that one even though it doesn't really do much.

Cheers very muchly for giving it a listen. Much appreciated.
