...so thought of Jof again and fired up the game...
I've sky+'d the film, but don't reckon the experience will be comparable.

    Well I watched it....

    Terrible acting
Terrible dialogue (which stallone wrote for himself)
    Terrible plot
    Terrible 80's haircuts
    No hamburgers
    Brigitte Nielsen in swimwear
    Entertaining car chase

In short: I loved it

(although it's not as fun as the game)

have to say I played the game long before I ever watched the film....found it a bit shonky to be honest and was baffled by the lack of hamburgers

Well, technically speaking, it's more of a completely-unrelated-in-everything-but-name-(and-of-course-the-sixty-zillion-tons-of-testosterone)-mickey-take-and-immeasurably-better-than-the-pathetic-ego-trip-of-a-film-in, but if you're pushed for time then calling it a tie-in is OK, I suppose ;)

Did I read somewhere that the C64 version was different to the Spectrum version, BTW? Did it not follow the Speccy version's template, or was that a different version (CPC or whatever?), or am I just going senile?

I haven't seen it, but isn't there some scene at a diner involving a giant plastic hamburger?

    And Brigitte Nielsen, you say?

Yeah, not the greatest film. Though a guy who cuts his pizza with a pair of scissors must be bad-ass.

completley different, i use to get the same game on both systems the 64 version tried to follow the film more closely, no need to say any more on that. I had a similar moment of disbelief when i played Dan Dare on the 64

Oh god yeah that scene is awful, sly picks up the plastic hamburger whilst brigitte is eating her chips soaked in ketchup (like a model would eat that!) and says "here's your entree ma'am", a terrible terrible attempt at humour. Or maybe that's the idea lol
