I was enticed into G+ by the idea of having a multicast video chat feature. I bet its as buggy as heck though.
the hangouts work very well with multiple users actually. In fact google video chat is probably the best video chat I've ever used. Seems to work perfectly on all supported platforms unlike bloody skype...
I tried the "hangouts with extras" preview earlier and that does have a lot of bugs still. I expect it will be very useful when it's done though, reminds me of the old "netmeeting" program for windows domains with the window sharing and sketchpad if anyone remembers that :)
Yes. I particularly like the "Nearby" thing on the mobile version, where you can see what people are writing in public who are geographically close, in case something interesting is happening. Not a lot of use (yet) in the Isle of Man (where it seems to be filled with stuff from a guy called Mikey Gatt who is evidently deeply in love with himself), but it was interesting in Madrid. (However, there is a potential problem here, I would like to filter that page because it's going to become very, very busy in a big city... and there's no way to tag a post or filter on tags).
Also it's useful to be able to follow a person Twitter-like. For facebook, relationships must always be mutual but google+ allows you to follow.

This has changed in Facebook with the recent updates. Now you can allow people to "subscribe" to your feed, without you having to befriend them: http://searchengineland.com/facebook-adds-subscribe-button-other-news-feed-options-92816
