Tom Baker interview from 1984

edited October 2011 in Chit chat
Tom Baker (aka Dr. Who's 4 regeneration) survives an interview with Anne and Nick on BBC Breakfast TV in 1984, and serves up a classic parting line, listen carefully at the end.

Sorry, yes Good Morning Britain. Still classic how he reflects back at Anne and Nick the sort of malaise that the interview was bringing over him as they bored him to death with the same old questions he'd probably answered politely a hundred times, in face of the fact he was doing something completely new.

but it's the same when people are promoting a film , it's part of the job that I bet most actors hate.. the same inane questions again and again

I think in this case though, Tom may have been looking forward to talking about something other than Dr. Who. The flat (so laid back it was almost comatose), insipid interviewing from Anne and Nick, really was wearing him down. Fair enough they'd been up from 4am probably, but generally from what I remember they hardly knew what to ask the guests or talk about at times. Tom tries to help them out and ignore it at first, but then seems to decide to give expression to the interviewers own malaise. Not sure if that makes sense, but I didn't take what he said about people as being genuinely a statement about how he felt towards others but more a case how can I let you (ie Ann and Nick) see how your disinterest in your guests is coming accross to me. Nick almost comes across like Alan Partridge a couple of times.
