Plastic Bags instead of Toilets in Dutch Trains

edited October 2011 in Chit chat
I've heard about the British Rail Systems, but the Dutch can also be very funny.

Here's their latest invention: Plastic Bags as an Emergency Procedure.

They said that Plastic Bags is a much more cost effective measure instead of toilets, because having 4 extra seats per wagon is much better for passengers. :-P

A link to this news (in English) can be found: http://www.dutchnews.nl/news/archives/2011/10/plastic_bags_instead_of_toilet.php.

The reason is (another dutch brandmark) because it is too expansive to built in toilets in already existing trains without a toilet.

What's so difficult on buiding a small box (why not a shed??) and place the toilet with waterreservoir?

Just heard on radio 2, you can enter a funny sentence on the following sentence

"Two bags await travellers who need to go, say one to another....... "
  • In London, people just piss in the corner of trains.

So long as the vending machines on the platforms under Schiphol still have those crispy chocolate-topped waffles for when I get there in a few weeks time, all will be well.

Bags to **** in? Gross. Maybe the next thing they might suggest is passengers bring their own tescos bag to **** in. Every little helps. Maybe they give me extra clubcard points

What happens when the train is passing through a station at high speed, as kids will probably throw bags of **** out the window at passengers on the platform.

They are taking toilets off some British trains to make more money... I mean more room for passengers. (On a couple of commuter routes where the journey is less than an hour, but it's not good news for people with an illness/problem)

I went to Amsterdam on a works thing, bought some cakes, then had the best time ever watching one of my bosses attempting to eat soup with chopsticks in a Chinese restaurant. Simple pleasures...

There are some lovely Belgian chip sellers in Amsterdam. Shame I'm probably not going to have time to stop off there on my way home this year.

My mate went travelling to china a couple of years ago and on his first day noticed there was these small piles of sand all over the paths. He was waiting for a bus and saw a middle aged woman squat and then poo on the street, she then grabbed a handfull of sand out a of a small grit bin and sprinkled it over the poo.

Oddly enough Paul Merton never mentioned this everyday occurrence in his Paul Merton Visits China documentary.

That made me think, they've had pissbags in japan for years, they look like a giant rectangular condom, and when you pee into them there's some chemical in there that reacts with the piss and turns it into a gel, then I guess you just throw it away when you get off the train.......or drop it on the floor if you're a mucky bugger :D

The contract went to Bug Byte to install moving toilets with self-lifting lids, however legal action from Software Projects prevented the project from going ahead on schedule...

    Forgot to mention something:

The Dutch Railways also has trains running in Poland, Germany and the UK.

This idea could very well be running in a train near you
