I recall watching a documentary of sorts about advertizing, and how they 'prepare' the foods for the photograph, Some used stuff like hair spray on fruit to make it look shiny and delicious etc.
yeah, and for things like cakes they will put on extra icing sugar etc, and its all perfectly legal, as it states 'serving suggestion' ie you can put extra icing sugar on if you like. or paint your pork pie with ronseal :p

Dark Green and bright green laquers are popular for Brocolli florets and stems (apparently) :D
Me and the wife shellac'd a load of bread rolls to put in a display when she had her cafe, they didn't go rank. When we packed up shop I was tempted to break one open to see if it was rancid inside, but it was like a friggin' brick and wouldn't break.
I've quickly skimmed through these posts because I've been out and I have had a couple of shandys. So basically what you are all saying is that gaddafi was sodomised by a brussel sprout??

Yes and may have given birth to a giant green leafy monster, if he hadn't have been dealt with sooner...
a western journalist testifies the support of lybian people to gaddafi and western media manipulations.
I will say she does paint a rosy picture of Gaddafi's rein. However, three of my colleges are from Libya and have wives and children who are still living there. I can say that life was far from how she painted it, and was only like that for the privileged tribes or areas.
However, I belevive there is some credence to her views on media interference by the spooks. But, she is doing what the media are doing (distorting the truth), only in the opposite direction to them. I do firmly believe that the whole intention behind this invasion was to destabilise the region, for the exploitation of the natural resources of the region. Don't forget that Gadaffi is supposed to have orchestrated terrorist attacks on the UK, or were the media coerced into making that up too?.
So to get back on point. If you believe what I said was rhetorical, why then did you post the video. Was it to say 'listen to what's really happening' or 'listen to this its so biased and incorrect' or what?
You can't post up something like that and expect no one to question it.
Ahhh but what if the real reason the West attacked Libya was for their sprouts?
I hear a lot of conflicts are about the control of sprouts...control the sprouts, control the universe and all that
And why do you think Gaddafi started his massive irrigation project called the Great Man-made River? To raise sprouts of course and monopolize worldwide market! This alone was enough for the western leaders to want him dead. Now they're going to rob Libya of its natural sprout reserves.

i didn't. and the fact that i posted it doesn't mean that i necessarily believe what she says or everything that she says, or that i think that the people of the forum should, without thinking. i was referring to a specific part of your post, that now i don't care to get into (nor yesterday, to say the truth).
the interesting point of the video was about how media hidden the support that gaddafi had from the people or part of the people. there are many sources about that - so, by the way, reporting that, this site "empirestrikesblack" demonstrates to be more serious than your usual tv news (anyway, they reported the video of this journalist), which didn't talk about it.
so, the sarcasm should be directed to the one-sided, spoonfed and spoonfeeding information of these tv news.
as for lybia, well, it is/was widely known as the most rich or one of the most rich countries in africa (onu says that, not me, by the way), meaning that (VERY RELATIVELY) part of this riches used to reach (...) the people - and you have to compare the "lifestyle" in lybia to other african countries, not to usa, britain or italy.
and i've read and heard of other people stating that life in lybia wasn't ba
so, i think you're wrong in saying that she's "distorting" something:
if you take italy, northern areas are privilged compared to southern italy, because northern industry is strong, and the area is subsequently more prosperous - so? overall we can say that life in italy is ok, or better compared to romania, to say - although that it's not homogeneous all over the country.
so what you reported is not proving distortion on her side i'd say.
still, the assessment of how life is or was, wasn't the point when i posted the video.
and even if she's wrong about it(*), you can't even compare that to media brainwashing - because you're talking about MASS media, and the brainwashing comes from that a from reapeating concept or a notion over and over, and hiding other pieces of information.
i'd even like to point out how lybia was a pretty advanced culture in the arab world, for example, women were more free than in most other arab countries, as far as i know.
now that the rebels seems to want strict islamic rules back i don't know what will happen to that.
by the way, they ecountered so non existant resistance trying to defeat gaddafi, that it seems they had to pratically scorch sirte.
it seems that they have pratically destroyed it - and i mean nato did it.
(*) and it could even be - by the way, i didn't even listen attentively to her press conference, and i don't even remember what she said about life in lybia for common people - but i thought that there were interesting elements in it - some of which should have been showed to certain people - be it even only to expose them to different sources with different informations.
It might have been different in Italian news, but in the UK Gaddafi's supporters were mentioned, shown and even interviewed. From the british media I was aware he had support good numbers. However, the impression we were given was that they were misguided, and most probably lied to. And yes I am fully aware that its a case of the pot calling the kettle black, but all we can do is be aware of these biases, and if wished be go and seek out some more credible information.
However, there is so much ill founded, poorly thought out and ill researched conspiracy bull on the web, that it can be difficult to spot the nuggets of reality in amongst the sea of shyte.

maybe there were bits of this information even in the italian media, but if it was, it was an insignificant amount compared to the other flow of informations only showing "the people against gaddafi". it's, as you know, the "big flow" that counts, not the tiny bits of information.
"anyway, i wouldn't be surprise if mainstream british journalism was better than italian journalism".
But the riches only extended to areas he deemed to be important - other areas got token gestures but the real riches went unseen by them.
Libyans that spoke out against the regime were executed or mutilated in public - often aired on state tv.
Libyans that were seen talking to foreigners were assumed to be spies and were executed or mutilated often without trial.
Any Libyans that left the country were seen as traitors to be executed.
Any country that housed Libyans were seen as legitimate terrorist targets.
Terrorists in these countries were funded or supplied arms by Libya.
This is why Libyans across the world celebrated - they can now return home without fear of execution, and return to their families.
Africa is changing for the better... Egypt is a major port and should be rich - yet the pyramids have rotted beyond repair over the last 100 years
Bahrain is a beautiful place to live and should be a fantastic holiday resort.
Libya is full of riches and should be a rich mans playground - yet the very countries that Gaddafi alienated are the ones that would be spending more money there.
As for Bahrain - if it wasn't for America, it would have been destroyed by Saddam Hussain in the 90's - I watched skuds flying over it every night, and on one occasion a skud flying up the main road :( Why was it left to America to protect the island?
In Egypt I lived on the same street as Mubarak - probably the safest place to live in Egypt at the time lol (Clinton had to stay in a house on the main road lol - pleb)
Ghana is full of corruption at every level including major corporations.
Outside of Africa, it seems that the only other people complaining are the ones that made money from Libya - Russia for example sold a lot of arms to them - that business is over.

Was it a question?
"are you talking to me?".
Is it green, [sometimes] edible and round? Then yes ... !!! ... ???
No, I am in fact speaking to wall behind you. Get out of the way!
:p

I think there is a serious lesson there to be learned by all children worldwide.

Libya under Gadaffi greatly improved - better education, health, facilities, etc...
But the riches only extended to areas he deemed to be important - other areas got token gestures but the real riches went unseen by them.
