Thanks for your suggestions everybody, Byte Me seems to be the favourite so far. I'll be finishing this off over the next few days, so I guess we probably need to go with that for the title logo and loading screen, unless anyone has any last-minute suggestions?
I spent a couple of hours messing around with some sound effects this afternoon, so those are mostly done. The bonus soft drink cans are in, and currently just add to the player's score. I'm tempted to give them another use though. I also made the player's shots bounce off the walls - quite a handy feature when you're in a tight spot! Queuing customers start to get impatient, turning from white through yellow to red, and finally flashing red. Fail to serve a customer in time and you lose a life.
The front end menus and high scores need finishing, but I can always patch in some code from another game and tweak it in some way. There's one more enemy sprite I want to put in, plus anything else Redballoon decides to send in the next few days. I'm considering bonuses and extra hazards - the devil is in the detail with simple games like this, with little complexities that the player only discovers after he has been playing the game for a while.
I haven't even thought about music, it's probably far too late for that now. If any decent 128K musicians are interested in contributing, feel free send me a PM. I can always add some music after the Replay event.
I've got the loading screen, title/menu screen (and a Game Over screen, if required) covered. I'm stuck for more sprites at the moment, so we could call a halt on any new ones?

Fair enough. :)
Dave Moore has pointed me in the direction of a relevant thread over at the Retro Software forums. It seems the overall series is going to be called Eventureland. Stick with the title screens you've done, and I'll put a text reference to Eventureland somewhere in a menu screen.
Part of a series! Loving that idea already! I read the initial post about logos...which, spookily enough, I was just coming up with a logo for the loading screen and title menu and for some odd reason the recycle logo idea is coming in for the game over. I'll still think about enemy sprites, though.
Could you add Yerzmyey to the bottom of the loading screen? He's contributed a couple of excellent tunes, the first of which will be going in tonight.
I've added colours to the sprites, which leads to a bit of clash here and there. Maybe it needs an option to play in monochrome too. It just seemed a bit strange being chased around by a white tomato.
Right, time to put in some high score table code...

Yeah, Hark at you all giving a big a title as anything when it's me that doing the loading screen/title screen.
I'll also plump for "Byte Me" or "Big Buns Byte Me".

Anyway, I've posted some information and a couple of screenshots over there:

2nd loading screen in the space of a few days...I'm on fire.
Haha, quite nice screen! :)
If you are on fire, the only thing you can do is keeping it up!
Really nice clean design - love it
This one is definitely
Anyway I agree both look great!
