American Express
Reminding me of Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy is this.
Today, American Express wrote to me in relation to a credit card that I closed a year ago. There was a default charge made on that card, which I paid, but they didn't write to tell me about it, so the letter explains that as they didn't write to tell me about they are writing to tell me about it with the enclosed letter, and the main letter goes on to tell me that I don't need to do anything because I already paid it.

You should send them a thank-you card in acknowledgement ... next year.
Yeah, but enclosed in that thank you card should be a slightly smaller thank you card dated last year...
