Yeah, I have never played Argonian or Khajiit. But I will this time. I think it is because I always try to relate to my character as much as possible in looks/personality and it is harder to that with a lizard or cat.

Seriously, three times I've pre-ordered online with Game, and three times it's arrived a day early. I never actually shop at Game shops, but I always pre-order online with them now. :-)

see I stopped going to Game when I worked out Amazon were trustworthy about getting games to me on release day without any hassle....but this early thing might be worth trying

    Oh no....but wait....there's nothing else I want :(
  • How many bugs have you found Greencard? :-D

I've only found a couple of minor graphical glitches so far, but then the game did patch itself when I first loaded, so they may have sorted out a bunch of stuff already. I'm happy to report that it is simply fantastic, completely sucked me in straight away. There are a couple of things I'm slightly disappointed with (character creation and levelling up are stripped down a little too much, and you can no longer pick things up), but apart from that it's exactly what I hoped it would be like. Superb, gonna be pouring many many hours into this one, nothing else will get a look in for quite some time.

My local 24 hour Tesco had it in at midnight, which is nice. Installing now, then off to bed.

Left the 'cave' and on my own. Looks nice but I don't like the controls on the PC. I'll have to play around with them or use a controller I think.

I wasn't so keen on the PC controls for Oblivion after playing it for so long on the 360, but I got used to it eventually. Stick with it.

Really can't wait to get on Skyrim again, but I'm off out to a gig tonight, damn social life! I'd only taken one side mission, and that's already presented me with a couple more side missions and a very interesting dilemma. Awesome stuff!

Can someone check if it can be played (the PC version) using an Xbox360 control? I mean, does the game allow you to select the 360 pad as control or is the PC version meant to be played only with mouse and keyboard?

The reason I ask this is because my only PC right now is an HTPC and I'm using a wireless keyboard with an integrated mouse pad. The response is ok for multimedia but awfull for gaming, and I don't want to spend more money in a decent wireless keyboard + mouse (or using a wired combo, because this would force me to play on the floor).

    Thanks in advance :)

Character creation is pretty involved imo. You can go down to things like war paint and laughter lines, nice/eyes/chin/etc shapes and sizes. Did you press the right/left triggers when in character creation to access the other parts? It's not immediately obvious, you just see the option to click X for done.

To pick things up hold the activate button (A on Xbox) Just tried it with a cabbage :)

I'm really liking this so far, the graphics are pretty decent, with much more detailed and better draw distances than Oblivion. And Jeremy Soule has come up with another outstanding soundtrack. Looks and sounds great on my 50" plasma telly :)

I'm just fannying around in Riverwood at the moment getting used to the controls and stuff, and seeing what's going on. I'm still on level 1.

Yeah, I made my dude up to look like me, but with Alice Cooper-esque eye paint on! :-D What I mean is that there's no custom class option like before, you just pick a race and that's it. Not a huge disappointment, in fact it took me all of five minutes to get over it.

I'm currently in the mountainy thing just beyond Riverwood...

Ah yes, they have sort of replaced classes with standing stones. There's the Warrior/Mage/Thief and other stones scattered about. Activating these makes you learn that particular skill set faster. You can only activate one at a time. These are better imo because you can change them, unlike classes. If you decided you made the wrong class choice after a few hours in Oblivion, you'd have to start the game again. Here, you just activate another standing stone.

Aye, that's true, forgot about those, I picked the mage one first of all. But there aren't major and minor skills like before either, which used to be handy as you could carefully select your major skills to allow you to level up whenever you wanted to, so for example's sake I could have a low level character that would be a journeyman in most of his minor skills (my last character only reached level 20 or so, but was a master of most of the arcane arts). Like I say, it's not a huge disappointent, and the perks system in Skyrim looks awesome enough to more than make up for it (much better than that of Fallout 3).

Haha, I'm going to try to distract myself a bit this weekend in order to stop myself melding with the sofa..!

I've just started it, as a Breton who likes summoning things. Thought I'd better stop for a snack. Enjoying it so far!

I went for Breton too this time around. 75% resistance to magicka (when using the dragonskin thingy)? Yes please!
