See, the controls can't be that hard to get used to!
Now let's be fair, I have admitted I made a mistake in selecting to play the game with a joystick from the selection screen. I have apologised for not playing the game the way you told me I should rather than the way I wanted to. Rest assured, from now on when I think of this game I shall imagine myself holding up two fingers, ready to press the keys simultaneously as you suggested.
That strange up-down collision detection was made on purpose? As it really annoying to press both left-up or left-down, to fit into narrow spaces between blocks.

I honestly don't get it - what's so difficult about it...and what's so strange about it?
If you're using the default keys QAOP & SPACE, what you're saying is that it's hard to press Q and O - or A and O - at the same time?
If not - then redefine the keys so they're better suited to your hands.
Just sat down with a nice cuppa and fired up Dingo on my 48+.
Level 56, Hi Score 558000.
R-Tape just played to level 56. Apparently it's not that difficult. :p
If the problem is that you can't hit the openings: just don't lift the left-key if you're going left and want to do up - keep it pressed and press up too - then "slide into the opening".

Easy peasy.
Don't worry, Shadow Maker could start an argument in an empty room.

This is what i mean. It can be done without this "effect", having to press these keys to slide into opening, like auto-correct position for 1-2 pixels or like that. So you did this on purpose? I do not tell it is 'that difficult', just do not get why not implement usual scheme to fit openings, without having 100% accuracy in positioning.
Had a quick go yesterday, very impressed with how it looks, the fruit graphics are great. It does feel tough at first, but I'm sure it will grow on me. Well done to everyone involved.

Shadow Maker complains about the same thing as I did before
You can see a lot of care and work put into the game to make it pretty and climatic. The graphics and sounds are really cute.
As for me it has, however, one weak point that spoils the gameplay and total impression - pixel perfect movements.
You know, to turn left or right I must be at the exact position, precise to one pixel. So in practice I want to go, I press the key, but this stupid koala won't go.
The same issue was discussed (and corrected) with Flynn's Adventures in Bombland:
A lot of people gave this game 10 points so they consider it absolutelly perfect. But for me and as you can see not only me it's not perfect as the movement is a pain.
Check recent Spectrum version of Pacman. It doesn't have this exact position problem and that's why Pacman is so playable. We should really learn from the masters. If Pacman played as Dingo it would never become a cult game that it is now.
We may have different opinions and say them loudly, may we? :)
Must admit i dont get the criticism for the movement. I play it like i would Chuckie Egg. If you dont press Up at the same time as right when you're near a ladder in Chuckie Egg theyre a pain to go up.
But you just press the combination before in Dingo and Chuckie Egg. The other control method/suggestion sounds okay but dont personally think its needed
I played both Dingo and Simon's emulated Pac-Man lately and, to be honest, I failed to feel the object of Shadow Maker's criticism. Dingo is a lovely game on its own; it oozes care in its realization and devotion to the machine which stimulated fun and creativity when we were young. It's really simple after all - I gave it an 8 - but technically speaking it's really top notch. There is no problem at all with the controls, according to my personal experience with it (and I have been playing Spectrum games since January 1984 ;) ). Just my two cents.
Ralf said all for me. Really, if authors do not want to listen for our words - ok, that's fine, it's your choice. Rest of game looks quite fine, do not be so nervous about real things. What to say more?

None of these seem to have turned up on ebay yet. Pleasing to see there's no profiteering going on!
Which reminds me, time to put my Dingo copy up for sale, it's been signed by Matthew Smith too don't you know ;-).

Haha, yeah, but they were numbered, signed & official - the ones you make yourself are just cheap knock-off's. ;)

Mine is 11/50. I suppose I could remove a 1 to create another 1/50 <evil laugh>
I have to draw the line somewhere! :)
