Cases such as these are a bit tricky, really. It's easy for a company to say '<company> software' to denote 'software from <company>'.
In fact, we have many, many such cases...

Does not compute. (read: Errr...???)
In some of those mag references the company NAME is mentioned as "South Coast Software" ... what's tricky about that? ([strike]still don't quite understand what you mean[/strike] maybe I do but do not see it being so in this case.)
Perhaps the full name is 'South Coast Software', of course. I wouldn't know without proper adverts or cassette inlays. ;-)
And I think that also was why I wasn't sure how to understand you at first, because I did read it (and have now re-read) with a capital "S" ... so I just immediately got it stuck in my head that it is South Coast Software. I saw it in the bottom mag-ref in the listing. But one mag-ref might not be enough, nor a proof at all really.

What I meant is as follows. Compare it to looking at a movie, and see credits such as
An Amblin Entertainments production (for a movie production)
A Viacom company (for a company)
Neither 'production' nor 'company' are part of the names.
Likewise,
South Coast software (for a piece of software)
could be a similar case.
Does that make more sense?

No, you wrote it out well enough, I was in a hurry and had to re-read it a couple of times for it to click, and it made absolute sense.
I's a bit fick like that, y'see.
