Question for any reformed smokers - do you have to actively think about not smoking still or does it become natural etc
For the first few weeks I thought of little else other than the fact I wasn't smoking. I used to smoke roll-ups so there was the whole morning ritual of making a cuppa, sitting down and rolling the first couple of the day "just to get my heart started".

After I got out of all the daily rituals, and certainly now, I never give it a moments thought apart from when I'm around someone smoking (which is quite rare now) or when I'm talking about it - like in this thread :). It really makes me want to nip up to the newsagents, buy half an ounce of GV, and revel in the wonderous taste & smell. Not gonna though -- the feeling will soon pass! :D

yeah, because everyone just uses it for medicinal purposes! :D

Well, passive smoking is quite dangerous as well, much more than it was previously known. It's not long since I have read about some studies which revealed it takes no more than few minutes in smoking area and your blood vessels start to behave as if they had phlebitis (if that's the proper word - some kind of inflamation anyway).

I really envy British that they have the non-smoking pubs enforced. It was so great to be able to go to a pub and not having to smell awfully afterwards. I hope that one day our dumb politicians will finally approve that as well.

Ahhh see my issue is that I always seem to end up in pubs with smokers sometime in the first 3 weeks of quitting and at some point end up sparking up without thinking

Well, I guess everyone's different, but if it was me I'd think about knocking that on the head for a little while. I think I had it slightly easier as I gave up smoking shortly after meeting the future Mrs.C, so my usual routine was already out of the window at the time I stopped.

And now pubs are different - you can't sit down an have a smoke with your beer like I used to do, you have to go and stand in the garden, in the freezing cold, like a leper, with all the other outcasts. That doesn't really appeal!

I'm sure that depends where it is grown, and what fertiliser is used.

And what is it mixed with to make it smokeable?

    Oh yeah - tobacco.

Not necessarily, unless it's hash, which has loads of crap in it anyway... :p

a number of people I know use electronic cigarettes.. so maybe something to try :)
me , I went cold turkey.. and ate ice cream OR brushed my teeth every time I wanted a ciggy. It took 2 attempts BUT I was in that frame of mind that specific day to try.

new year is a bad time to give up, give up at the end of a night and when you have 3+ days off to avoid people and sleep for most of it.. that gives you a head start.

wait for em to start more on the drinkers (which I am one now more)

Because it makes us look cool.

Does it? I always thought it just shows that someone wasn't smart enough not to start and then strong enough to stop... ;-)

I didn't really think like that when I was 13/14 years old...

Now that I'm older, I know better than to judge people on their habits.

Yeah, I know what you mean, it's way too easy to fall into the "I want to be as cool as the others" trap as a teenager. Whatever it concerns, smoking or something else. I was just wondering if you still find it cool as an adult...

No, I smoke now because I enjoy it. There are some days where I won't smoke at all just because I don't fancy it that day (and I won't smoke if I'm feeling ill etc.).

You do realise the "looking cool" post was a joke, right?

of course you look cool, especially to little kids, except when you get some smoke drift in your eyes, and you start squinting.

and its a good excuse to get outside for a break when you are in a club. you and your mates couldn't just all go stand out side for 10 mins in the past, it would have looked odd. even the non smokers join smokers to give company and to get away from the banging music.

Aye, we often have quite a laugh here chatting to people while we're outside smoking. Come to think of it, I met my girlfriend whilst we were both standing outside a pub having a tab. I think there's actually been a name tacked onto it? "Smirting", or something?

EDIT: Yup, here's some info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smirting

Thats just the **** you buy at the streets, cheap tobacco add weights to it, to make more money. If Mariuhana would be legal, no one would mix it again with crap.
If you grow it yourself, you also have the foll control whats inside. But at present time this is illegal (If anybody cares, I know, nobody does!).

I think he meant putting tobacco in a joint with cannabis to make it smokeable, hence why I said not necessarily unless it's hash, meaning you can smoke weed pure but not hash (unless it's in a pipe or bong or something).

If you're buying weed with crap in it, you should shop elsewhere! ;)
