Watching friends playing games
Back in the Speccy days, did you had friends or relatives that always assumed you wanted to watch them play a certain game and always decided things for you, or were you that person?
In my case I was too polite and I would just sit there for hours and "enjoy" it. I guess I didn't want to make them sad or something. Some of them would tell me things like "Hey, good thing you're here! Look, you have to see this game I've been playing!" or "I'm going to show you what I've been working on". Sometimes it was something great and lots of fun, but sometimes it was one of those situations where you think "How do I get out of here?".

Them "This game is great, watch this!"
Me "OK sure"
...couple of minutes later....
Me "So are we going down the pub or not?"
Them "...and you have to jump on this ledge here [not listening]"
Me "OK, see you later"
....sound of door closing.
I didn't have money to buy current machines until about 10 years ago so I watched my mates play through a load of games that I would've liked to have played through myself at the time.
As for Speccy games nah I played what I wanted when I wanted, I guess I was nice when my pals were around I'd load up something we could all enjoy, and if it was something we couldn't multiplay we did the age old rule of life by life/level by level.
I used to like 2 player+ games.
I used to have a girlfriend who was a gamer (coming up to 10 years ago) .. was great.. all my friends were annoyed as their girlfriends would cuss them about it.
one of the many reasons, she was the only woman I would have married to date. The worst of it, it will always be unfinished business.. ah well :)
other times I could quite happily sit there and watch him play a single player game, I'd be doing a bit of back seat gaming
good times, goooooood times
example even something like Harrier Attack could be co op ish, one flies one bombs etc
That reminds me, with another mate I used to play Daley Thompsons Decatholon
he did the running I did the jump etc, got some awesome scores
I think there's a more general problem with some people in that they think you're interested in whatever they are interested in, and worst of all, don't seem to realise you're not, even when you try and give off signals. The worst is when someone is telling a long and tedious anecdote, and you know you can't get away until the end (without being rude) but you know it's a long way off yet...
I do actually like watching people play games..... Or do I just like watching games being played.....
