I'm picking my Big Trak up later on from Argos! They finally have them back in stock, and they are only ?17.99 for the original one (the type I'm getting), or ?12.99 for Big Trak Jnr. I just had to get the original. I may see about a wireless web cam at some point, as that would be fun.
What am I talking about?! Camcorder and gaffer tape is the answer!
I'd like to see a new improved Big Trak, I know that some people have mentioned in another thread on here, that one is due.
Considering the improvement of batteries since the 80's, I think a six wheel drive big trak, would be nice :) It struggles to get over the smallest of obstacles
what would be very nice, is to improve the way it functions, different surfaces affect it, turn 15 (90 degrees) on one surface, yields different results on a different surface, or indeed elsewhere on the same carpet.
have it actually adjust itself for length and turns would be nice.
Yes the new big trak is out later this year. I picked my big trak up about 2 hours ago. We got it home, put the stickers on (it has to have the stickers on IMO) and did a few programs. It works really well, we had a great time with it. I even got a mini maglite and sellotaped it above the hatch, and then switched out the lights for a proper lunar rover feel. We're going to have great fun with this, oh yes. We may get the new one when it comes out too, "Battle of the Big Traks!".

yeah I'm planning on lashing up a torch and a camera at the same time later :D
I reckon more adults own big traks than children nowadays!
if they bring out a really decent one..e.g. far better programming via pc / sd card etc and say even, usb or an onboard cam etc or even wifi. then yer I'd be tempted / interested.
or say there was a decent "learn" mode.. so you could give it the layout of the house / rooms etc. and use that with say a small pc prog. or that trailer thing i you could get it to tip stuff ? again might be good.
I really think they missed a trick bringing it out OR they put the old one out to get the dev. money for the new one.

The thing is they can only sell it cheap as there is very little R&D costs. The IP owners may even still have the original moulds, so they just go to a china factory and say "make me ?-000 of these".
An advance version probably would not be viable, as the R&D costs would increase, plus a limited market, + there are also advanced things out there such as Spykee
The big trak XTR looks pretty impressive though. 2 sockets for add ons, PC control, phone control, and keyboard control.
A good upgrade though would be facility to control it from Spectrum, C64 and BBC. Trouble is I bet they're not up to it. I'd rather that than control from a PC though, it seems a bit more fitting.

I think I gotta get one too now.. oh, I might need to get a pet to annoy too, heheheh
is no one safe from the big track?

Well the sticker on the side of my box (put there by argos) said "Mens Gifts/Novelties".

night camera mode, with a torch stuck on it, bit rubbish to be honest
I gave up half way through, as I already had a working robot
can be taken apart and regeared maybe?
