SAM Coup? version of Sophistry
As a few of you might know, the ZX Spectrum puzzle/action game Sophistry (probably best-known for being released on a CRASH cover-tape) was also converted to the great-but-ill-fated SAM Coup? computer.
From what I can gather, the original Spectrum version had bugs which meant one of the levels couldn't be accessed (although the game could still be completed as the keys could be bought with points). Does anyone know if the bug was fixed in the SAM conversion? I gather it was written using the Spectrum code.

I cannot remember the specifics (its nearly 18 years ago), but I do recall removing at least one bug in a certain type of level. While adding labels etc to the disassembled speccy version I had a 'this can't be right' moment.
Having a quick look at the source code... aargh its all gibberish to me with ridiculously short labels, no comment and no structure... and there is no point having a 'normal' laptop since there is no indentation in the code whatsoever. :-)
I had no idea we had the programmer on here! Hello! :)
Details about the bugs in the ZX Spectrum version are available in the instructions file on its WOS page:

I love the SAM version, incidentally. I always regarded the game as little more than a curio until I actually learned to play it properly (something I rarely did with games as a kid) a few years ago. The only thing I don't think is an improvement over the Speccy version is the in-game sound effects. I miss the frog-like "croak" the player's do-da makes as it moves.
