Android or iPhone 3 ?

edited January 2012 in Chit chat
Hi Folks,

I am about to renew my mobile phone contract with orange and it looks as though the best two phones I can choose from without increasing my monthly fee are an iphone 3 GS 8GB or some sort of non-top-of-the-range Samsung Galaxy Android phone (I already have a non-Android Samsung and I think it is pretty good).

But which would be the best one to go for? I know most people out there would say "iPhone!", but I hear Android based phones can be better in some ways (less locked out, easier to mod, etc). I need some advice. My main usage for it (apart from phoning and texts) would be music, camera and wi-fi internet and I suppose I want the one which is easiest and most responsive to use.

Anyone out there had a go with both?

Cheers, mrmessy

The camera on the 3GS is not too good. So if that's a major requirement I suggest going for an Android phone with a decent camera. However, in terms of speed, music and ease of use, it's all pretty good.

But if you can get a Samsung Galaxy S for that price, I strongly suggest it over the iphone. It's better in every respect except for the fact that you don't get the range of apps that iphone has, but you have indicated that isn't a must for you.
  • ONe thing I've heard about Iphones is you can't use external memory cards.
I don't know if that would be a factor or if it's even true anymore.
