It's amazingly enough not too cold over here right now, it's nearly 5C but it's usually closer to -30C this time of year. And this "warm spell" is supposed to last a few days too.

I can tell you what I'm not doing - rubbing my hands on your thighs "vic reeves" style. Does that help?

^^^ But in your case, is there any sort of cheese-making involved when keeping warm?

Indeed, good lookin' out dude!

I find it hilarious though when people on FB post statuses like "Oooooooh, Snow! Snow Snow! YAYYYAYYAYY!!!!!111!!1!", but then five minutes later are all like "oh, I can't get home from work, it's too cold, bloody traffic, moan moan moan". Make your bloody minds up, you fickle gits! :p

actually I'm not going far, a few miles, and I don't have a death wish, I'm sticking to main routes / bus routes, which have been gritted, and I know there has been no rain, and know where frost is most likely to form, and will keep the speed down

will be home by 11pm, so should be fine. Wouldn't want to venture far from home in this cold.

Yesterday, I came up the A3, on to the M25 and up the M1. I was alright till I'd cleared the Hindhead tunnel and then the temperature sank, and it really was a bit chilly. :(

I'm glad my work feels generally warm, but the few days that I don't have the car and have to use the bus and walk - jeez you need layers man!

I live in a 100 year old building and flippin eck its cold even with heating on. There are no cavities to fill with insulation and the ceilings are all high, so the rooms are hard to heat.

Good luck thx, I've just cycled 5 miles out to my folks house, my forehead has gone numb lol

I went to see my mate who works on a cheese stall and he had these bean bag things in his hand that were really hot. Some weird invention to keep your hands warm, he didn't know what they were called, anyone heard of them? Strangest thing ive seen In ages.

They're just your regular run of the mill hand warmers. Been available here for ages.

You can also get the bean-bags that you warm up in the microwave but the heat in them don't last as long when you're outside. They're better if you have a muscle-issue.

It's cool to see the chemical reaction in some of them.

They come in all sorts of sizes/activation methods/brands ... I like the ones in the video (smaller variation though) because they slip easily into ones woolen-mittens ... err ... I mean leather gloves ... because I wear cool leather gloves ... and definitely not woolen mittens ... at all ... ever! STOP MAKING FUN OF MY WOOLEN MITTENS!!!

work places legally can't go below a temp.. much like schools, remember that when we were kids getting sent home coz the boiler was up the cr*p again.

just curious why you can't force the window shut etc? put a bit of card it the bog window BOTH sides if you can. least it deflects the wind a bit, OR get some carrier bags scrunched up , with newspaper etc.. and stuff it with em (I use that method for packaging) in the window.. where do I send the bill ?

mile ? lip balm? your such a fibber.. it's lard and your trying to sound cosmo again hehe

being a slaphead I have one of them black wooly hats that makes me look like I'm a crim .. ah well I'd rather be warm :)

keep warm anyway.. keep an eye on old neighbours .. feed the birds etc.

It's been rather cold here too. Being on the east coast, the wind coming in off the sea can be braching to say the least. But, I've known it to be much colder than it is now, so I'm not complaining....yet!

It's due to snow in the South East over the weekend, so it'll be chaos down there.

thats a myth, usually spread by office workers hoping they can get a day off.

the law is actually pretty vague on the subject, its one of those, it has to be a 'reasonable' temp

once, we had a woman at work claiming that the 'law' clearly states that there should be tea and coffee making facilities for everyone.

    some work places

I mean, imagine if you work in the like an ASDA storage depot, sorry boss, fog says the freezer has to be above 16 degrees, or we are going home.

All the ice cream would melt, and there would be no jelly and ice cream at your next party.

When Lord Tyrone-bltyhe drafted the factories, shop and railway premises act he wasn't messing about you know!

Or if you work in a garden centre, sue John Kettley because the fish pond has ice on it!
