....a zelda film??

i was thinking about the zelda games the other day and the amount of brilliant characters, places, stories, music in the games they are like mini films anyway, surely a film would be amazing?
i know theres been a cartoon but a real film would be awesome?

there will be at some point, but remember nintendo fiercely protect their IP on stuff :)

it would do good business no doubt, much like the final fantasy films.

and of course will have to feature Robin willams daughter (zelda)

who also remembers that other great nintendo based type film
    mario bros :D

    looks good

with the amount of characters, places and games out there it could be as big a series as the lord of the rings films, and as good if done right, wonder if peter jacksons free lol

Probably because there is a Super Mario film and after seeing that, Nintendo's execs couldn't bear the thought of anyone screwing up their IP quite so much again.

tut, that trailer above shows how much better it could be than that mario crap

thing is theres not that much story or characterisation in the mario games, nowhere near compared to zelda anyway

And the trilogy and prequels could all be made at the same time ... err ... I mean, all the Zelda stories are copy/paste anyways.

dont think it was that one, i only saw a clip of it, rather than a trailer. didn't have any special effects like that.

it would have been about 10 years ago when i saw it.

I think the reason there has never been a Zelda movie is because it would be f**king awful...

One of the things that a lot of 'modern' gamers shout about with each Zelda iteration is the lack of voice acting in the series. I would never want anyone to put a voice to Link because when I play the games, I become him and someone elses voice would take me out of that. And that's 1 of the main issues about a Zelda film....but I honestly don't think we need a film because each game becomes an epic "film" in it's own right with you playing the lead.
  • I've never played a Zelda game. Are they any good?
  • edited February 2012
Well, I think they are some of the greatest games ever made, but they're not to everyone's cup of tea. I can only suggest which ones for you to try and see for yourself.

    tut

    weirdo lol

some of the greatest games ever made

    my all time faves
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (snes)
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (gb)

i completed all those, tbh ive never played the earlier ones, never owned a snes and these days never have that much time to sit down and concentrate so never really played the later ones (even tho i have windwaker on the GC and the two WII ones)

watch some clips on youtube see if youd like em, like i said the actual stories, amount of characters, music and places in the games are immense

  • Yeah, must have a look a them sometime.

I've never owned a Nintendo console or had mates that did either. It's always been sega stuff with me instead. I've not even emulated Nintendo stuff much either.

I do like eariler-generation RPGs and storyline-led stuff so I think it would be up my street.

    My thoughts exactly! :D

Link to the Past is probably your best bet. It's a decent game and the best of a very overated series.

I suppose it depends what you class as RPG, but I never class the Zelda games as RPG's, though they are really story-driven. Majora's Mask story is a real favourite of mine, as is the game. It really is 'The Empire Strikes Back' to Ocarina of Time's 'Star Wars' in tone. I'd say that Twilight Princess is like a Zelda game Greatest Hits and Wind Waker's story and graphic and aniimation design would put a lot of larger budget films - both CGI and live action - to shame.
