So glad I'm not in that demographic anymore.
I do think he shouldn't assume stuff.. you see on Yahoo answers.. kids that are in their teens who can't work like we did, when were were say 15-16 .. all coz of insurance / health & safety
nice spot
There was a program not so long ago on Channel 4? where this woman was giving "tips" to long term unemployed, it was the most patronising thing ever.
But having been shoehorned onto those very schemes and clubs when I was on the dole for 18 months straight they're no help.
You're told if you don't go you lose your benefits.
Then when you do go it's usually a 2 week back to work scheme which is a total f**king waste of tax payers money, usually hosted by some fat bastard called Jim, or Steve, or Bill who is totally out of touch with the modern worls and reality. After patronising you for 2 weeks straight they present you with the option of packing biscuits for 3 quid an hour for the rest of your life, going back to signing on since you survived the 2 weeks of being patronised and having to suffer being stuck in a room full of subhuman charva spacker dickwads, or you can go on an education course.
the education course is usually funded by the dole and you have to be actively seeking work while you're doing it, so if it's a 6 month course and it's something really usefull and you're 5 months and 3 weeks into it if you don't take the fish gutting job the half wit uneducated mongtard in the jobcentre pigeonholes you into you lose your dole.
that's the mentality, they won't hold off for you to get the qualification, because they want your number off the unemployment figures no matter what.
I was so f**king glad at the end of that 18 month dole stint when I finally got a job that payed alright wages and actually lasted me. No thanks to them of course I went out and got it on my own cos' the Jobcentre is a cesspool of useless c*nts who haven't got a clue how to get people an actual regular job.
Funny though they'll take a normal persons dole off them for being late to sign on, or some menial excuse, but they won't bat an eyelid at the charva scum who sit on the wall outside the jobcentre at 8.55 waiting for it to open at 9.00am who are drinking Helden Brau Super Strength and Special brew and smoking a joint. No they just walk in sign on and get their free f**king money for the next fortnight.
I like pie :D
Me: Barman.
Them: @OK, you want to start applying for jobs, plenty of opportunity in Leicester..."
Me: No, I don't want a job or a career in the pub trade, I want a career in something else. I have 5-6 years in Banking, 7 years in Chemicals, I haven't forgotten those skills, etc etc.
Fast forward 2 weeks and I get "As you haven't applied for the job sector WE think you are most suited to" (because all you want is for me to be off your statistics) "your benefits may be at risk".
The funniest thing is that I got my job in chemicals through a work placement scheme and it turned out to be the best job I've ever had (although I had a near nervous breakdown at the end, which is another story altogether).
I just keep thinking that there is another job like that out there waiting for me. Or is that me being unrealistic?
It was a total and utter waste of time, the room was full of people who just sat around and read the papers and had no interest in finding a job. I was stuck next to a guy who was a total idiot, he spent the whole day moaning about how the country was in a state etc.
The jobclub leader spent most of the time in her office on the phone to her boyfriend or whatever and was useless, i went out and found a job by myself just after i'd left, then the jobclub phoned to see how i was getting on, when i told them i'd found a job they tried to tell me they had helped - they hadn't done sod all!
The job i got was only temporary and had crap wages but it lasted 18 months and the people were very friendly and i had some good laughs in there (it was the Abbey Natioanal head office in Glasgow).
'What work experience do you have?'
'software Engineer'
'That's nice.. but what people want these days are 'computer skills'*, so we're sending you on an IT skills course'
Those 'employment skills courses' involve locking you in a basement with newspapers from a week ago, 3 computers that don't work and telling you not to leave until you find a job.
Help me? Dozy bastards tried to physically confiscate my phone whilst I was in the midst of accepting a (****ty, admittedly) job. They also told several people they would lose their benefits for not turning up, even though they needed the time to go to a job interview. One stayed, the other told then to 'f**k themselves' and went to the interview anyway.
Lovely stuff... The people who run these things are actually the people they have given up looking for jobs for and employed themselves out of desperation to get them off the books.
*Said incredibly slowly and in the tone of voice you'd use to a 3 year old.
