80s thrash band i.d?

edited March 2012 in Chit chat
trying to remember this hardcore/thrash album fom 1985 or 86 I used to have. all I remember is it was supposed to be known as one of the earliest thrash albums and I'm 90% sure the band's name had "-ed" on the end. already tried searching 'Disgusted' and 'Petrified' but no luck. (it's not The Exploited before anyone says it:-))

looked at wiki's entry on Thrash but cant see anything that looks like it

boozefreek/mel/bermondsey bob/anyone into metal, recognize this?

You'll have to narrow it down a little, but it wouldn't hurt to check out Encyclopedia Metallum as I've always found that site to be very helpful. You can search any band you know were around at the time (Metallica for example) and it will give you a list of current and past members with links to all the bands they have been in. Plus, there's a "similar artists" page too where it links to bands that sound like them (Cradle of Filth link to Emperor and Dimmu Borgir for example, as well as many others) Try looking on there...

quite a lot. thrash is like a faster more aggressive version of heavy metal, grunge is a heavier version of garage rock.

oh damn, if you don't know then it's not looking good lol

I've just remembered the album cover also had skulls/zombie heads on the front, or maybe (more likely) one zombie/mummy type head in the middle of the pic? it wasn't S.O.D.

I was gonna say Possessed as well...
  • edited February 2012
thanks but no it's not possessed, I know what they sound like it isn't them.

not The Accused either, just listening to that Martha album on amazon. again, a bit too metal. this stuff was really messy and noisy

I was gonna say Possessed aswell but I don't think they had an album with a mummy on it. But I think I've only seen one or two of theirs.

Also, that Machine Head cover of Negative Creep is brilliant. Loved both Nirvana and Machine Head back in the day. I think that was a b-side for MH wasn't it?
Oh, no. Every time you turn up something monumental and terrible happens.
I don’t think I have the stomach for it.

Yeah, it was a b-side for the "Take My Scars" single ;-)

    not exhumed or entombed either.

Of course I could. but then what would the point be of reading anything here?

You seem rather arrogant and agressive for a forum moderater (sorry but that's the opinion I have gained from reading your posts over the last year or so since I have been a member)

If that gets me banned, then fair enough, my fault, all I did was ask, and lets face it if I had googled it then I wouldn't be here, so one less member .......

    See where this is going?

There is no need to be overbearing is there? afterall, I may be relatively new to "the scene" wether it is music, computers or even the internet.

LOL, I'm one of the nicest people you could possibly meet, even my wife says so sometimes.
My general demeanour is irrelevant, I only ensure the rules and guidelines are adhered to.

You're in the Chit-Chat forum, is that what drew you to WoS?

Why would I ban you? You've not broken any of the rules.
    See where this is going?
    Nope.

I did and you're still not banned, maybe there is something in this being nice lark...

Sorry.......... As you have pointed out, in future, I'll go elsewhere to find the answers to any questions I have.

why should I have any input when I can just take output via google etc which will coldly tell me where to look and answer my questions?

I was sincerely trying to be interactive with people on a forum with a common interest, however it seems google is my best mate here.

    never mind eh.

I think it might, arguably, possibly, be worth you lightening up just a touch. You seem determined to be hard done by, but you got your question answered well, in not much time, and now we have this lovely conversational, community-based, debate stemming from it to behold. All in all, I say you lucked out big time there. Pass the peace-pipe and the bongos, man, I feel a 30 minute drum solo coming on...

@SKR: Don't be too bothered by the above comments aimed at you. Karingal, Dunny, ccowley, etc, etc. are really nice and helpful guys.

Yes, they may leave people snarky replies, from time to time (read: often), but more often than not it's an act. Karingal is a lovey-dovey fussy-wuzzy deep, deep, deep (DEEEEEEP) down at heart ... it's so deep under that thick layer of blubbery skin of his, that if you were to dig for it, you would end up in Australia* ... but it's there and you might stumble over it the longer you stick around.

So what if you've been dunked into the Giant Vat Of WoS Irreverence, it's a baptism of sorts. Ignore it, throw either genuine niceties or pointed retorts back at them.

You'll pick up on the game soon enough icon14.gif

You spoke up, that makes you a WoSser in my books :-)

*( Wait, karingal is planet Earth? Confused. -Ed )

I gave your question a serious answer with youtube examples and you ignored it though. bit rude?!

    Erm... no.

Only one man is great enough to do a drum solo that doesn't send all the punters to the bar...

Yeah..... you are right of course... (peace man!)

Unfortunately, not bothering to "google" and just asking a question (even if you know the answer) is wrong?

Flippin heck! all I was doing was trying to get a question answered, I wasn't starting the Spanish Inquisition.

But anyway, that's irrelevant, at least it got someone saying something and that someone was relatively new.

maybe thats good or not.. but if nobody new comes up, this forum is gonna die soon.
