I'm impressed, how did you manage to get Braben to do a piece, I'd have thought he would have been incredibly busy with the Raspberry Pi release! ;) and why isn't my subscription here before it goes in the shops!? :)
I look forward to having a good read!

Just seen the front cover of this, love it !

The special gift you get is a copy of the original issue 1, shame as i've already got it but i know a lot of people havent.

Looks like some great features this issue (and theres a fair bit of Speccy goodness in issue 1 as well).

There was an issue with delivery apparently but subscribers 'should' have it today (or tomorrow). I'm feeling confident it'll get delivered in about an hour by my postie !

But congrats to Darran and co, 100 issues, wow !

Does it come with issue 1? I genuinely don't know.

It's not mentioned in the order receipt, but the issue 100 blurb on the site does state that it comes with issue 1.

Got mine, it's just been delivered, and it's dinner time :D thanks! time for a brew and a good read!

Yep got mine as well, the 'surprise' wasnt that great for me but i can understand others might like it.

Tons of stuff to read in it, was actually looking forward to the homebrew section until i saw lines and lines of C64 code !

But a lot to read this month

Will they deliver this one to the US? I must have it, and book stores are too bloody unreliable here?
    Every night is curry night!

I've already got issue 1. Hope my subscription copy is on the mat when I get home.

Got mine about 3 hours ago. Loved the wrapper having the blue n' yellow around the edges :D

Already read the classic gaming moment. Looking forward to the Speccy bits and Siouxsie might even read it for the Sonic article :)
Oh, no. Every time you turn up something monumental and terrible happens.
I don’t think I have the stomach for it.

Yep they will, its getting quite popular over in the US, should be available in some of the bigger stores like Barnes & Noble i think. Or try ordering it from https://www.imagineshop.co.uk/

Noooo! my subscription has just finished & I forgot to renew, means I won't have 100 in my collection. I don't tend to see this in the shops.
  • edited March 2012
I've just asked a friend to pick it up for me - I've been throwing up again...
  • edited March 2012
^^ it's not that bad! Seriously Pat, get well man!
  • edited March 2012
Being sick for over a month is bad, especially being diabetic... But I got my copy of the 30th Anniversary book yesterday (ordered it online) which cheered me up a bit..

Have you got a WH Smith or Sainsbury near you?

Cool, it has a type-in! Even if it is a C64 one and I have no idea how to save BASIC on a C64! Still I'm going to have to try it out and see what it's like (downloading the finished one is cheating kids!)

The Speccy type in on the back cover is considerably easier to type in though and runs on a better computer too. :-)

Tell a lie, it fell through my letterbox today. Must have one left.

There's plenty going on in this issue by the looks of it. The type in is a great idea (Good work TMR!), probably hard to organise but type ins for different platforms would have been great.

Only one criticism, too much plastic wrapping!

damn dood get well soon eh?

when I got in from work (21 working days left till retirement!!) I saw there were 2 mags, I got excited thing that we'd been given a copy of the speccy/c64 anniversary edition

how dissapointed was I, I've got issue one (well every issue) already!!!

nah it's a nice touch actually

I know what you're going through. I don't have diabetes, but I do have stomach problems that makes me throw up.

    Crap isn't it?

Hope it doesn't last too long for you just now. There's nowt worse than being ill.

There was a type-in for the speccy many moons ago in issue 5 called Sticky: http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseekid.cgi?id=0026590

But nobody's typed it in yet, I put in on the forum a while ago here: http://www.worldofspectrum.org/forums/showpost.php?p=495099&postcount=10

    Cheers, Neil

There was indeed a type-in in issue 5. I'd forgotten about that!

I do remember people writing in, saying that it didn't work properly. But then, surely it wouldn't be authentic if it was bug free

I've probably still got the text file for that somewhere. Is there any way of feeding that into an emulator to save typing it out?

    D'oh!
damned if I do and damned if I don't

Had to cancel after subscribing from issue 2!
the move do kangaroo-land meant piles of 'em stacking up at the olds back home,
may well hunt for the big 100 here in the shops in a months time though!

who'd have thought the mag would get so successful eh! 8 years on and going strong :-)
  • Has anyone got the Retro Gamer Speccy/C64 book?
    Is it worth getting?

Already bought it online. I never had the first issue and now I have the chance.

Thanks so much, Imagine Publishing!

I got it, but many of its contents have been printed before on RG regular issues. Although I didn't buy all collection from the beginning (but two consequent subscriptions three years ago) and having lost many things since then, I can consider this bookazine a good investment.

Well its a collection of material which has been in the mag over the years, but even as a regular subscriber i've bought it as its good to get all that stuff compiled and easier to take one book to the toilet instead of 25 or so !

Just amazing going into WHSmiths and seeing a big picture of a Speccy on the cover in the year 2012

Good point. And the C64 section will come in handy if I run out of bog roll!
