Richborough Power Station

It's not often you get to see something like this, so when a friend asked if I wanted to come along to see the destruction of the water cooling towers, I couldn't pass it up!

    Apparently the northern tower stayed up for a while afterwards before collapsing...just proves that Northerners are 'arder! :-D

    Seriously though, those towers were bloody whoppers...they dwarfed a 2 tier road bridge, the top level of which was the M1! You can see the main dome of Meadowhall shopping centre lit up to the right, and below that the 2 lines are 2 tiers of the road bridge...that top tier is the M1 - that's how big these muthas were.

    Miss 'em though they were a prominent landmark in the area - I'll bet Mel remembers them though.

    Yeah, they can be pretty huge. The ones I took pics of were almost 100m tall.
