Arcade Game name
Hello all
Was chatting to an old college friend yesterday and he asked me if I could remember the name of an arcade game we used to play in the late 80's, it was bit like Ikari Warriors, in that it was a two player soldier game but you seemed to be "behind" your man rather than on top of him.
Seem to to recall there being grenades being thrown around but can't remember the name.
Anyone got any ideas?

Guerilla War?
Time Soldiers?
And another one from SNK, Victory Road:

did they lift the sprites from Ikari as well as the game?? :o:lol:
Any other suggestions?
I thought that too! Could be GI Joe though
I am quite an arcade game expert/enthusiast and both these could be a couple off titles but the soldier one sounds like devestators.
The other game like galaxians where men are dropped under you and fire up comes under various names `Uni-WarS` is the common name but there are clones in the UK arcades called `Cosmic Dust`
It could also be P.O.W. Prisoners of War, although that's a side-scroller rather than vertical-scroller.
Calibre 50?
As for the space invader type one, what about Gorf? I seem to remember the Swimming pool near where my cousin lived had that on a tabletop cabinet upstairs.
Does that use the Smash TV engine?
This is the one I was going to guess.....
cheers dude, looks like the type of thing
a lot of good looking games on that site marko cheers
Thank you all and a cigar for the Man from West Brom.
Quite Possibly as it was designed by Mark Turmell (of Midway) who designed both games, the co-designer of Total Carnage is Eugene Jarvis who is seen by some arcade game collectors as a demi-god as he designed the arcade games Robotron and Defender ,also he designed the Cruisin`usa games.
No problem,i do not smoke but a pint of real ale on the other hand is another story ;)
