Much appreciated insight Chrisgoodhead, I really enjoyed those in-game accounts, brought your heroic achievements with Grand Prix and Ace of Aces to life.
You played in the true spirit of Speccy gaming. Reports like these really capture the lucky dip D90 days perfectly for me.
I hadn't really considered that no instructions and 'guess the key' was such a uniting part of the Speccy experience, but it really was. The recent 'discovery' of the ejector seat in Harrier Attack seemed to be a revelation to many Wossers.

Not forgetting the Wizball revelation!
I look forward to discovering many new gameplay elements. Manic Miner's shotgun maybe? Or how about finding the lift in Nebulus to save all that tedious climbing? Who knows what features we've all been missing?
Flippin eck, going through a race really is like sitting through a Grand Prix..! Without any sound.
I finished 16th and 17th in my first race, out of 20, which I thought was pretty good for a rookie. (You forgot to mention that 3 cars didn't finish - Ed) I don't think the 183 second pit stop helped.
Anyway, I saved a snapshot so may carry on to see if I can tinker with the engine or buy a mechanic or something.
I haven't done so well in Ace of Aces I'm afraid. I do think it's my kind of game, but for some reason I just couldn't shoot anything down. Every Me109 has so far evaded my ratatatatata! I'll probably play a bit more before the next gameclub starts, but then again I may move onto Spitfire 40. At least I can take off, shoot summink down, and land again in that one!
