I've not tried any pinball emulation yet, seen a few vids on utube.
As I don't have the room to get a real one it's the only way to go for me. Same with fruit machines, I've always wanted a real one, but nowhere to put it. Then I found fruitemu :)

    :D

I haven't watched Phonenix Nights for ages. Will have to dig the DVD's out.

A lot of the pinball artists tried to sneak things into their artwork that shouldn't be there and one of them managed to get Hitler in one.

What's really hilarious is I'm sure when you'd get the ball stuck up near the top of the table and the bonuses were flying up bigtime the machine would actually go "AAAAIIIDDRRREEEEEEEEAAAAANNNN!!!!!!!!"

Can't be a good selling selling point have Sylvester Stallone doing speech for a game !
Saying that, he is on my Demolition Man pinball.

Pinmame/VisualPinball is pretty good as it uses the original code to run the game.

However it can be a real pain in the arse to set up and needs a ridiculously high specced computer to do its thing.

    My favourite 'real-life' pinball machines....

    Flash Gordon
    Star Trek The Next Generation
    X-Files

Although you can't beat Stones 'n' Bones on the Amiga. :)

Flash Gordon was one of the first pinball machines I ever played, on holiday in Le Touquet with school.

And I am certain I have never played one since. Amazing considering the amount of shows and tournaments I have been to.

anyone remember an old "hand held" pinball, it was RED led game. not that great

Also, not really pinball, but an electronic tabletop bowling game, using a steel ball bearing just like a pinball, with red LED skittles? Quite good that was actually.

I'm not very good at pinball games on the 360 (nor the PS1 or PS2 etc actually). I think that despite looking and sounding good, they just don't "feel" right.

The problem with all pinball games is that you can't shake the bejesus out of them like a real machine.

OH I love pinball. Absolutely adore it. Favourite games are Adams Family and Flintstones. If you are ever down on the south coast in or around Ramsgate I would unhesitatingly recommend the Pin Ball Parlour. This place had a selection of cabinets (about 30 or so) from the late fifties right up until the 90s. I spent a good few hours in their last autumn.

Oh what I would give for my own Adams Family pinball game...

I have had two Addams Family's and also owned a Flintstones in the past. Loved the bowling on Flintstones.
My current Addams Family has a brand new replacement playfield so it looks like new.

The South Coast Slam is a very highly regarded pinball show down that way.

Au Contraire Some Visual Pinball cabinets have usb accelerometers installed and mapped to the nudge keys so you can shake them. The downside side is that visual pinball cabinets are big, expensive and require some diy know-how to make and some computing know-how to set-up.

It's still not the same though.
As good as Visual Pinball is it is nowhere near as good as playing an actual machine.
It does have other uses though. I once used Visual Pinball to diagnose a fault on one of my machines.

I used to spend a lot of time (and money) on Gorgar (Williams Electronics) back in the day. It's probably my favourite real pinball machine.

Speaking of Pinball favourites. I've been searching for an Amiga Pinball game for ages, but can't remember the title. When the ball ran out it sounded like belching and coughing. Anyone know the game?

i used to play any machines they had in my local arcade...unfortunately the mists of time have clouded what actual tables they were, but I do remember towards the end they had the Addams Family one....

There was one day I had a proper Pinball moment....I'd only be about 12 or 13, and I'd managed to beat some 18 year old dude's high score! There was loads of older guys and girls surrounding the machine once someone shouted about it, and I ended up getting millions of points more than anybody else had done in that arcade...Everybody was cheering and whooping and patting me on the back and ruffling my hair...it really felt like I was in some cheesey film....got a few colas bought for me that day!

They'd all forgotten who I was by the time I went back though, as the guy came in about 3 hours later and set a new record...

Well, at least you got a little more than 15 minutes of fame that day eh!?

Nice anecdote, thanks for sharing. :)
