File associations

edited January 2005 in Emulators
I'm running an old version of Spectaculator, it was the older freeware version.

Since i've installed Half Life II (Now de-installed it) many Speccy files have been associated with Half Life II !

I of course select a .tap or .z80 file and go to associate it with Spectaculator but it just wont change it. Very bizarre, presume i have to go into the registry but that sounds 'scary' ! Anyone else had the same problems ?

I can drag a speccy file onto the shortcut for Spectaculator and it works fine, just cant double click a file as it tries to start up Half Life 2 !

Off the top of my head, doesn't Spectaculator have a 'repair file associations' option?

Yes, just go into Add/Remove Programs:

    - Click Spectaculator
    - Click "Click here for support information"
    - Click "Repair"

    Regards,

    Jon.

You don't need to go into the registry either.

Open My Computer (or Documents or anywhere really)
    Tools -> Folder Options
    click the Filetypes tab
highlight the extension (tap, z80, etc)
    click Change
On the list of progs choose your prog, if it's not there then click on Browse and find it
    click OK

    :)
Oh, no. Every time you turn up something monumental and terrible happens.
I don’t think I have the stomach for it.
