If you were that nice you'd agree that Sensi is better than Kick-Off.

    Heh.

    Excellent collection, Ignacio ;)
I like specially the huge amount of new games for the Spectrum, specially that Run Bill Tun in Clam shell! Its really a jewel and there are very few of them!
Its also nice to see those Mike Oldfield cassettes and those blank tapes, hmmm ;)

Hm... by your video, that thing was made "by" Timex in Dundee.
Now I understand why it have a Spectrum shape and the inscription "Timex 1.000.000 computers".
But for sure, Timex of Portugal made more than a million Timex computers as they made TS1000, TS1500, TS2068, TC2048, TC2068, FDD/FDD3000 and TT3000.
    Dundee... were Timex Computer died.

Only the Caithness Crystal one is mine :-)
and the 8 microdrives that I collected for a joke and because I like them.
I have only ever used two on a Spectrum although six all worked when I set them up for the video. I don't have the connectors for the last two.

The white Spectrum was posted by A. Rollings and I enhanced it a bit.
I remember he said on WOS that Sir Clive no longer had his but we never got the full story.

Incidentally the Harmonia LP was recorded by the author of 'Pangolins' and dates from 1984.

them "special offer" stickers , like on your garfield are a pain. I think I have a boxed one also , but that has a small price sticker on it.. trashes em a bit.. pity really

This stuff is great for getting old sticky labels off cardboard or paper. It just melts it off leaving what's underneath in perfect condition. Sometimes it makes the paper go like grease proof paper and you think "gawd it looks worse, it's see through!" but it soon dries out and the paper returns to it's normal condition.

It really is invaluable for an old games collector. Just don't use it on a cassette tape jewel box or a PS1 type box, it melts the plastic!

Some tapes I've just acquired. My last Durell game, now I have the set. 'Android 1' I've never seen for sale anywhere in the last year at a decent price, 2 missing Dk'Tronics games and a few others.

The jewel in the crown is the Stonechip Echo Amplifier, which is styled like the original Spectrum. I think it's quite r@re.

Those are great photos with a good depth of vision and superb focus that gets you right up close. I noticed some of them in

The ZX Spectrum on Your PC - Second Edition

which I also enjoyed, in particular the ZXDS article.

    Both very professional.

Great tip thanks. I've got a few inlays that have annoying labels. Especially when you've got those 'reduced' ones that won't come off. I guess the only other side effect is if they've been in a shop window or something and the sun has bleached them. You'll get a colour variation the shape of the sticky label ;-).

I'll lob a few pictures up from like 10 years ago when I had a 'study' for all my retro gear. However, now I've been relegated to the loft space, well sliding doors into it in my Daughters room. I keep getting harassed to shed some of my collection.

This is a bit of a "Happy 30th, Speccy!" message and a [very rambling!!] nostalgic look at the pretty small amount of games I've decided to keep. Since there's not much in the picture I thought I'd explain why I've kept what's there (sorry!! ;))...

I think I've owned well over 2000 Spec games in my time but I'm down to about 500-ish now. Most of them are boxed up in my mum's garage but I don't really class them as part of my "collection" as they're the remainder of what I plan on selling. This pic was taken shortly after Fate of Atlantis left the shelf for pastures new! ;)

    Collection_1204.jpg

Skooldaze / Back To Skool / Contact Sam Cruise - Like a lot of games I bought back in the day I bought Skooldaze because I liked the cover. One of the best "blind" purchases I ever made! Pre-ordered Back To Skool from Crash and remember it arriving after the school carol service. Best end of term ever! Picked up Sam Cruise a few years ago to finish the "trilogy" off. Had a copy off a mate at the time but found it quite hard.

Roller Coaster - Like Skooldaze I bought it just because it looked interesting and me and my mate ended up playing it for the rest of the day. Classic game. Still want a copy of the instructions for it as Boots had apparently lost them - boo! :(

Bear Bovver - My parents got me this along with Aquarius from Makro. Used to play both of them loads.

Handicap Golf - First game I ever had. Given to me when I won my Spec.

Spy Hunter - Always loved this and only ever had a pirate copy off my mate when I was a kid. Picked up several copies a couple of years ago and kept the best one.

Target: Renegade - Maaan, I remember really looking forward to this after playing Renegade and a mate at school managed to save me a whole quid on it because he knew a local newsagent who stocked a few Spec games. Another game me and my best mate spent hours and hours on.

RoboCop - Another one I only had a pirate of but I did get the Hit Squad version (for free from Crash) when it came out. Flogged that recently-ish and decided to keep one of several double-cassette case jobbies I picked up. The regular large box version is just too big!

The Rebelstar Collection - Bought this when it came out because it had Chaos and Rebelstar and I only had Rebelstar 2 from YS and a pirate of Chaos at the time. Fantastic set of games!

Night Shift - Really enjoyed this game and it got me the centre spread of YS and 40 quid from Linda Barker when YS had just said that they weren't going to give out any more money for tips - woo hoo!!

High Steel - Random choice maybe but I bought this for a mate's birthday (and obviously copied it for myself) as it was about the only game that was out that he didn't own (he owned virtually EVERYTHING!!) and just really liked it. Picked up my own copy a couple of years ago.

Saboteur - Another "only had a pirate" that I picked up in more recent years. Classic game. Actually, my copy was one I picked up from a shop in Portugal (I think?). Remember thinking the police would pick me up as soon as I walked out the shop!

Narc - I might flog this. Got it from Crash after I did tips and a map for Midnight Resistance (see below!) and I loved the arcade machine but not sure about the Spec version. I think I just liked blowing the guys up with the rocket launcher and watching their limbs fly everywhere!

Rock Star Ate My Hamster - I think I just really wanted to buy a game and so I got this because the reviews looked good. "Wasted" hours on it and still never got a platinum disk.

Renegade - Classic! Borrowed it off someone at school (and obviously taped it) and finally got my own copy a mere 10 years or so later! I do still have an original copy of Renegade III from when it came out but it was such a poor game that I decided it didn't deserve to go in my little collection, even if it does finish the trilogy off. If it's not there then I can pretend it doesn't really exist! :)

Midnight Resistance - Baggers, I love this game! Bought it because the demo was so good and it's one of the only "proper" games that I managed to finish through just sheer determination (i.e. without POKEs or tips)! Also holds a special place in my heart 'cos Crash printed my map and tips and I got loads of free games!! :)

Rebelstar 2 - Played my YS copy to death and had to get the proper thing a few years later.

Moon Cresta - The hotel I spent many a holiday in during my youth had the arcade machine of this so I was dead pleased to pick it up in a bargain bin about a year after it had come out. No idea why it was reduced but I wasn't going to argue!

Aquarius - Played it and Bear Bovver loads!

Airwolf - First game I ever bought. Defiled my first copy of Crash by cutting out the Crash mail order coupon so I could buy it asap! Must have been very desperate to get my mitts on it as I'd never normally consider cutting up a mag... ever! Enjoyed it but maaaan was it hard. Don't think I ever really got that far in it but it was Airwolf so who cared?!

Crime Busters - Another game I played for hours with my mate as it was two player. Great fun.

Alkatraz Harry - Kept for nostalgic reasons only. Not very good but I think it was the first game I was able to buy from a shop as it was only 1.99!

Laser Squad - Best thing the Home Computer Club ever forced on me. I forgot to choose anything one month (or however often they made you buy stuff) so they sent me this automatically. Wasn't too chuffed until I loaded it up. One of my favourite games ever! Sent off for the expansion pack as well and then the Rebelstar Collection a few months later. Even took it on holiday along with my +2 so me and my mate could play it! Happy days!

Where Time Stood Still - My only 128-only game. Bought it when it came out and loved it even if I could never quite complete it. Managed to do it once after reading a complete solution but I think only one person survived!

    MIA:
These are ones I've got but seem to have gone walkies...
R-Type - Got a big box version somewhere
Bruce Lee - got a copy in quite average condition but want a nicer one
Horizons - Got sooo many copies that I have no idea which one came with my original Spec. Once I've sold the 15 or so spares off whatever's left will go on the shelf! ;)

There are a few other games I really loved that I've sold and sort of regretted now but my collection is fairly complete. I'd still like a copy of Chaos and there might be one or two others as well that I can't think of.

Right, for 30 years that's quite a restrained amount of rambling for me! :)

Looks like a fairly common feline to me ... what's so special about it, that you had to have it shipped across the puddle?

Its colours don't even clash. Looks rather content as opposed to being discontented.

( What's that? Cats and Speccy RAM are not the same thing? I beg to differ! )
