I love all the stories about the Speccy hardware development that most of the mainstream sites seem to be running with today.
For myself and many others in the UK, the Spectrum represented childhood. The first of its kind, and one of only a handful of computers to have being born into an era of innocence that is forever lost. That many of the articles on the web today refer to the Spectrum as a "PC" raised my eyebrows. It was a Spectrum. Something special beyond being put into a box with other things.
I loved the games, the magazines, the playground culture. I loved the chip tunes, the tape to tape decks, the type-ins, the blank C90s and shops that had nothing to do with games - stocking games. I found Cavelon in a bedding shop. I found Knight Tyme in a newsagent.
The anticipation of a new Crash magazine arriving, or the excitement of the postman arriving (in later years) with a new text adventure. Devouring each page of crash over and over again until the next one. The pages were my friends, the contents were the Universe. I can remember it but I can't imagine it ever being that way again in this modern era.
To me, the Spectrum represents the happiest days of my life. I may dip in and out of WoS but I'll always return because the memories of those times are so priceless.
Happy 30th Birthday ZX Spectrum, and thank you for all the fun.
I can hardly believe it was 30 years ago I was talking about the new Sinclair Colour Computer. We then went and bought a VIC 20, oh well never mind, we got a Spectrum in the end.
Always a great, friendly atmosphere on WoS! :D I don't know why many other (non-retrocomputing) forums I go on, generally don't seem have the same type of easy-going good-natured discussions as are typical here. Long may it continue!
It was a very nice B-day for the Spectrum, the number of WoSser online and visitors of WoS was huge, lets hope that new people get hooked here and old WoSser re-appear.
We had new software, and many other spectrum-related stuff. Only thing I miss a little is the Bobs game which was announced likely for yesterday. Lets see when it turns up, it will be a nice post b-day surprise (maybe there are more...)
Wow, stupid comments galore there, like the one guy who said he couldn't understand why people bought the Speccy when they could have gotten a C64 for a little more money and then it turns into a discussion about the merits of MSX and Amigas ... way to go off-topic. What I can't understand is, why can't people play nice for at least one freaking day, show a little respect for that "rival" machine regardless what they thought of it and secure that arguing crap ...
Computer Active magazine, pages 42 and 44 it gets a mention.
Screen shot of SPIN eumlator, and a caricature of Sir Clive using a speccy whilst driving a C5, and a brief mention about Amstrad giving permission amd this link www.snipca.com/X5737 as it's printed.
Plus a step by step guide across the pages of installing SPIN from WOS
:D
and if that's all been posted before, I confess to have not read all the thread.

I bought The Light Corridor and Sim City in Boots but what I remember most about it was the nes with a playable demo of Super Mario Bros!
Modern Pharmacys are so boring!

Er, almost. But the one you mention is a different video, although the subject is the same. :)
Don't think you can all rest up now though...you've got exactly 24hrs to prepare to make my 35th equally as good! ;) :D
Wait till you discover prescription Viagra...
I can only guess that whoever made that cake did not want to get wax on their Smarties. :D
Probably hang over ;)

Avoiding getting wax on your smarties is something that is of concern to a lot of people. :-o
