The best place for practical info about the spectranet is probably to join the #zx irc channel on coldfront.net

I'm usually online and so's p13z both of us have spectranets and been doing development on them so can answer most questions.

#zx huh...that explains it, I was trying to join #spin using the spectranet irc client and couldn't get in because of the password lock.

Ah yes, #spin has a key now. If you come in #zx someone will probably give you it :)

Incidentally, the beta version of Fuse supports the Spectranet, so you can play with it before the real hardware's ready.

    FTFY ;)

then there's this quote from the spectranet site...
The build system for the ROMs has changed completely, therefore this page also must be rewritten. This will be done within the next few days.

As I may have mentioned, I am pathologically lazy, especially when it comes to writing manuals. (The manual is partly written, I promise!)

I seem to recall mentioning that I'm happy to help with stuff :)

(though of course I'm pathologically lazy too!)

is the spectranet finished now i would really like to get one
  • edited April 2012
I'd like to order one too. :)

Frankly, if it lets me load a game from a server, then at the mo that's good enough for me - i'm having nothing but trouble with DivIDE at the moment.

Am I the first person to get an irc ban using a spectranet?
  • edited April 2012
And is there a downloadable version for Fuse for someone with tools to compile it?
  • edited April 2012
I just want one as i think the divide is too expansive on what i need it if and thats just to load the games up and play them. plus you dont have to mess about its just plug it in and type out what you need.

    I want one to:

    -help me with my education
-Play multi-player games (I'm sure someone will make them or mod existing ones (Chess, Chaos, Laser Squad, Target Renegade, Fist, etc.)
    -Speccy LAN parties
-To connect to my home PC via VNC using my Speccy when I'm travelling :-P
-To "talk" to other Speccy users who have real Spectranets or emulated ones. Chat via IRC, remove access for assistance, etc.
-To stream or watch Speccy streaming. We can, for example, watch a demo coder in real time while they're developing something. If there's a demo party we could have a Speccy streaming what's going on in the machine. :)

    lol

If you are you should be honored.
But who would ban a Specchum from a Speccy channel??

I'm not technically-minded enough to help with writing the manual, but I am (among other jobs) an IT proofreader for a decent-sized publishing company, so once the manual is at that stage I'd be happy to put my l33t punctuating sk1LLz to use for the community :)

Spectranet is emulated in the svn trunk of fuse and the address is on the fuse sourceforge pages.
