    Nice linky.
Does anyone else instantly phantom-smell vinyl when you see shelves of records? I can smell the vinyl now - even though I'm sitting in a bright, noisey data centre at the mo :)

Dunno, I'm sat next to a few shelves of vinyl :)

It's great that all John Peel's collection is available for all to see, I'm sure it's what he would have wanted. I'll probably dribble on my keyboard :)

EDIT: Cool, you can play some of them too, listening to: Save the last Gherkin for me! - Mike Absalom

I'd like them to do the same with Bob Munkhouse's collection.

well the monkhouse stuff, he didn't own the copyright and he got taken to court about it. (he lent a tape to someone or something ? )
it's good though, as he had stuff that the tv companies don't own.they are probably transferring it to digital formats no doubt.

I saw on the news about the space.. it's a pity there isn't more like John Peel around now, what he did sadly pretty much went with him when he passed away.

one of my friend is a vinyl junkie, he has a silly amount 10's of 1000's of records also.

Surely John didn't own the copyright on all his record either. PS: Munkhouse lent a tape to Wogan's son for personal viewing. Its akin to me taping Neighbours and letting a mate borrow it, i.e. a really trivial reason to call someone into question.

yer it is trivial, it's a bit like owning a VCR, a number of times my family and me have been on TV, and recorded it..

*BUT* according to the law your supposed to wipe it after 24 hours.. yer right.. we all have them kept in them fake bookcase type covers

If that's the case, and I've not got the knowledge to refute that, Bob would have lost not won his case and had it all confiscated, but it wasn't.

think his one though was to do with "distribution" , much as if I gave you vhs of err bullseye etc. because you missed it back in the day.

only reason I remember it , because I found it funny. as obv. the makers of VCR's etc.. also make broadcast equipment at the time. .e.g. sony / jvc / panasonic

No, they tried to make it a law, but it was dropped when they realised just how unenforceable it was.

Back to the john peel site are they going to let you look at the front/back covers and inlays in the future as well or is it just that little thumbnail of the front.
