Do this names sound familiar ?

edited May 2012 in MIA/STP/SDP
Hello,
Since i found WOS (about 2 months ago),
i've been looking around for tapes with 48K software.
I found some titles, that i've runned on Infossek, but, nothing.
Here are some names,

Quimical Elements
Stroke 4 - (i think that this explains how an engine works)
Amplify
The 15 - This is a puzzle game

If all or any of this software is of interest to WOS, i'll be glad to upload it.
Let me know.
Thanks.

please do. i would say if they're not here then submit them please :) but if you didnt do them yourself or know exactly where they came from ( who TZX'd them, assuming they are TZXs anyway ) then theyre not proper TZXs and those games will need still need to get dumped to consider them good.

but if not or they arent TZX anyway i would submit them, just for the sake of completion.

    take it easy.

    Duarte,

Are you saying that you have the 4 titles mentioned ? If so what format do you currently have them in ?

If they are MIA, then we accept Z80 or TAP.
However if you have the original tape then if would be advantageous if a TZX could be supplied.

The TZX Team can do it for you if you feel you're not up to the hassle of doing it.

As Amigo said, anything that isn't on WOS and appears to be commercial is probably needed. There's most likely many things missing from infoseek, so we rely on people sharing the info.

    Many thanks and good luck

    Hi,
    thanks for the reply Andrew.
I still have a lot of questions when it comes to emulation, and the fact that i am in Portugal, does not help. It would be hard enough to learn all of this in Portuguese...
About the titles, i have them on tape, but like most of my 48K software they are not originals, but backup tapes.
I don't know if they are commercial titles (sorry).
I think they are educational, with exception of 'The 15'-puzzle game.
I still can't make tzx files, so in case of upload it would be of z80 files.
I've uploaded 'Vanquisher' , listed as MIA, as a z80 file and i hope WOS can use it.
There is always the possibility of mailing the tapes. (I don't know if this will help, since they are not originals, but let me know)
A special note to Amigo, (thanks for the reply), i really like to find your posts because i know you've spent some time in Portugal.
I have some Portuguese software, and i'll soon post the titles.
    Boa Sorte, Amigo.

    Good luck, and thanks everybody.

    Hi,

I've been TZXing a number of Portugeese titles for Steve Brown (TZX Vault Maintainer). We're probably talking about 50 portugeese titles, although I've had trouble TZXing them due to the bad quality of duplication. Many are simply UK titles with protection removed.

For MIA, Z80s are better than nothing.

What problems do you have TZXing. Have you tried sampling in Windows and saving as WAV/VOC then decoding with one of the decoders ? Also you could try loading in to ZX SPIN or Spectaculator and log to a WAV file. Not sure which ones allows this as I don't transfer tapes with this method.

I use MakeTZX or CSW in DOS to make a WAV/CSW or TZX. Then I decode it.

I may try and make a windows sampler and perhaps decoder, if only to encorage other to do it, as my attempt will be poor ;).

I'm sure something can be done, there's alwyas a way.

    Regards

i did many for tzx vault in the past though one day for no good reason make tzx just stopped working on me. i could never figure out why. another way to tzx woudl be to use a software copying program, make a wav file, load the copying software in say Real Spectrum, load the wav file, sve the wav file back out as a TZX, BUT ... that would be no good for TZX vault the saved copy wouldnt be true to the original, unless theres some software copying program for the spectrum that saves out exactly the way it was loaded in. if i could understand the TZX format *maybe* i could write a simple program that could do it, not likely bu ti could give it a shot someday.

yea i agree, for MIA Z80 or whatveer, is betterthan nothing.

Thanks Duarte. If you have any portuguese games, even if they are copies from your friends or whatever id like get a Portuguese preservation page up as PT games ( incl. Brasilian ones etc ) are very hard to find. so for me that they are copies of originals ( which are probably pirated anyway - you know what im talking about :) ) in my view theyre still valid. i only found a few and most are UK titles but done by some PT programers or whatveer and oters are non PT titles that are translated to PT or modified somehow and sold that way in Portugal, ie, my copy of Howard the Duck, Op Wolf, Untouchables, Fern Martin Basket, and some are just translated/modified inlays. so ill count those too but under a different category. im also looking for non spectrum ones too but spectrum is my main focus for the start.

I've been able to make a tzx file using maketzx and an interface for Windows and i hope that this is the correct way to make tzx files that can be used in the tzx vault. Is this the way to make proper tzx's ?
I'm sorry to say that after that, my Spectaculator does not load voc files anymore. At first i thought i had make a mistake with one of the recording settings, but after a while, i tryed to load an older voc file (that i am sure it's o.k.), and spectaculator was unable to load it. Can you help me out ? I just dont understand what's wrong.
About those titles in my original post, i've tryed to get some info, but this is all i was able to get,

    The 15-puzzle game-B.C. Thorne-April 83
    Quimical Elements-Magnetic Magazine
    Hellicopter-game-B.C. Thorne-March 83
Stroke 4-no reference of any kind from my end. Thank you Steven. (Actually this is kind of a game to see how much we know about an engine)

Amigo, as soon as i'm sure that my portuguese titles are working i'll post the names. I think it's a great idea to put up a PT games/software page. Hope to see it soon.

I' ve also found (in the darkest corner of the basement) an original. It is a special edition of 'Total Eclipse' with Total Eclipse I and II, a poster, and two game guides with detachable entry form's 'to win a trip to see a real total eclipse in Hawaii!!!' (July 81). Is this a rare item ?
    Thanks, everybody.

I haven't checked .voc loading for a while. Can you post a URL of a working file for me and I'll take a look.

All of the games are already in the archive except for Quimical elements (which may be a typo of Chemical elements?).

Does anybody know about this possible uMIA?
