psytron problems

hello chaps and chapesses. Recently downloaded zx-32 and spectaculator. Downloaded Psytron. Played it (good times!) at the end of the first go on the first level though, Im 99.99% certain that there are errors with the game :/

Original game, finish level then you have left aligned

1: __ __ __ __ 58%

in the tap and tzx versions I downloaded from WOS, when level 1 is finished there is some garbage in the start of the text area and the right hand side of the scoring goes into teh droid screen (bottom right) like this

....................................... __ 49 57

like that. Can anyone shed any light on what im doing wrong please?

edit: got a mate to check - same thing. the formatting is all messed up over about 3 lines - weirdness cause the rest of the lines are fine...heeelp?

    Hello and welcome to the WOS forum :smile: I'd suggest you to try the game with other, more recent emulators first. ZX32 and the free version of Spectaculator (assuming you did not download the trial 7.51 version from the author's website) are dated, way dated in fact, and could not work with the files currently in the archive. Then let us know!

    You'll get that result if running the game in 128k emulation; running as a 48k was OK when I tried it.

    that was it. I was running in 48k mode, but loading a file id saved on spectaculator when it was running in 128k mode so it was popping back into 128k mode.

    Now the question is, which emulator (free) should I be using? thanks for your help :D

    Tempted to say Spud but the sensible answer is SpecEmu (or Spin).
