downloaded this a couple of days ago lol

dnb only really came in around 96-97 from what I can gather. hardcore 92-93, jungle 94-95, dnb 96-97? I think these are quality anyway. the manix track is great, but I cant work out if it's new or actually from 1992 - you might know :). the rest are definitely new, but obviously made to sound oldskool on purpose...

And the rest - hardcore started late '88, and D&B is still going strong.

    thanks for the share :p

yer it's hardcore, but well you know certain folk think your chatting pr0n if you say that and facebook etc filters pick it up. funny how the engineering has changed i.e. have more access to a lot more equipment and the sound is well .. cleaner. (and sadly I feel the music suffered for it)

it's funny how some are using the same-ish type of JD800 pads (most famously used in the burial - leviticus)

and the chopping wasn't that tight/clinical back in them days.. in some cases .. until things like recycle made it a LOT easier.

didnt know it wa that early, thought that was the 'acid house' era  . think dnb might've been overtaken by dubstep now, which I just cant get into for some reason. it's too slow lol

definitely the music has suffered for it in a sense. everything sounds cleaner like you say, less atmosphere... hardcore now is a joke anyway, the ministry of sound/'Bonkers!' type stuff. the early stuff is great. one of my mates spends literally all his spare cash on early 90s hardcore, ?50-?60 for a 12".. other day he bid ?250 on origin unknown 12" - eastern promise, and got outbid!

i like it, brings back the sounds i remember from that era when i was clubbing it :)

love some of the heavy breaks and breakdowns and i just love the reggae feel in some tracks

was a bit too young for clubs in the early hardcore days, I did go to club kinetik in stoke a couple of times around 96. and goldie's blue note in london just after it opened, bjork was in there once cause it was around the time she was going out with goldie, pretty sure she was on the decks for a while but I might just be imagining that

    i was raving in about 90/91 :)

green mohican in dreads, scruffy crusty clothes, british telecom luminous waistcoat and coat, global hypercolour sweatshirt

special brew and speed and acid

free party soundsystems such as smokescreen and diy playing house parties, blues clubs playing reggae and jungle
plus some biggish rave clubs (pre gatecrasher days i think)

we also had loads of rave leaflets and posters all over the walls of my flat, which i left when i left sheff, some are worth a small fortune now, one i know that is is a spectrum one (no not that spectrum, an old rave night, oakenfolds first i think if i remember right)

Haha! You fit the descrpition of a twat I used to laugh at :p

I bet you knew that scruffy fat bird who always used to pop up on BPM, she had purple dreads and the roadsweeper jacket. Looked like the type of chick who's arse smelled like Brussels Sprouts, and I bet her fanny stunk of rotten eggs as well.

She looked like she'd always popped about 19 cowies :D

If you go to soundcloud and search for "old skool" there's some cracking old skool mixes in there covering the full range of styles/eras/genres - many you can download and the sound quality is generally very good. I grabbed loads recently and my drives to and from work are much better for it :) I arrive feeling a bit cabbaged but a coffee sorts that out. I always feel a bit stoned after listening to Jungle/Jungle techno from 1991/92/93.
