I'm just waiting for someone at work to email me a link to this set of videos, so I can reply and ask them who the hell they think built it in the first place?

    this made me lol today

there was a few people who moaned about the minority couple being portrayed in the opening ceromony as unrealistic and a case of political correctness

That should leave "Rick Dewsbery" with egg on his face

Also a couple of points about the Olympics:

1 - In the run up to them, there was tons of moaning about them and wishing they were over with and how we will be **** at everything. Now we are actually doing very well it's all "yay for the olympics" and "go team GB." not so much on here, but it's deffo been that way on my Facebook feed at least ;-)

2 - It's interesting to note that the one sport that this country spends tens, if not hundreds of millions of ?'s investing in (football) gets nowhere near the medals, but the "under funded" sports (rowing, athletics etc) are pulling in the medals of all colours. I think it's time we invested in proper sports men and women rather than putting more millions into these footballers who are a constant letdown in everything!

good point. also as much as football is my favourite sport there is almost too much of it already. we don't need football (or tennis, or boxing for that matter) or any other sports that have their own established multi-zillion dollar platforms to be crammed into the olympics. they don't put golf in the olympics for example, or snooker. - not 'athletic' enough? well archery/shooting are in there...

I think golf is in the next one (Rio 2016).

    it's silly!

I mean that murray/federer final yesterday, so soon after they've done wimbledon , I was half cynical that federer was just thinking 'oh well I've got the important one', I'll just let him have this one... pretty pointless imo

    yeah they are trialing it.

i do think football should stay in the olympics, just because of the womens team, having it as a womans only event would end up as a bit of a pity event.

tennis this year was just 'wimbledon - the danny boyle directors cut' :D

walking needs to be dropped though.

    oof, right in the nads!
  • The problem with football is that 95% of the money goes to the already rich clubs in the premier league. They spend that money buying players from Spain, Italy etc helping to fund their national sides.

Golf isn't a sport it's a walk in the countryside with a stick and a ball.

Well, at least they put the effort in to walk instead of telling a horse do all the work.

I'd like to see an end to all the equestrian events in the Olympics - unless they agree to bring back charioteering, then I'll let them have the poncy riding-sideways, but only as an exhibition - kind of like the cheerleaders in beach volleyball.

Nobody wants to shag a horse though.

....well actually a few people might? But the majority don't :D

I'd be careful what you say - those equestrians are an odd bunch with a lot of cash. They probably do and just cover it up... :-D
