Games on Windows7 with DOSBOX

edited August 2012 in Chit chat
What's the best way to run these? I've now got a reason to use DOS-Box (Star Wars: Rebel Assault)... any ideas please?

(It's easier to ask my friends on here as they are prepared to give clear instructions)

Thanks.

well IRC you'd need the SB / MT32 setting done.. and perhaps an ATAPI cd driver enabled..

errm there is a setup / run file on the cd prolly see how that works. think that just setups the environment vars.. and calls the cd to start (a batch file IRC)

a LOT of it will run off the drive if I remember right. so you can always use a virtual image perhaps

If you wanna simplify things a little bit, I recommend a frontend like D.O.G. I use that myself and it makes the whole task of configuring DOSBox much easier for each game.

I've only used DOSBOX once on an XP machine for Duke Nukem, but I rarely used it. I found it a bit of a faff at first, but once I downloaded a front end for it, things worked out easier. Have you tried a frontend or does it come with one now?

I've never tried it - that's why I was asking for advice.

    Thanks for the comments.

Managed to get it going without a frontend.. Just need to configure a joypad.
