eBay removes a listing

edited August 2012 in Chit chat
Got an email from eBay today:
"Your listing is removed, digitally delivered goods need copyright owner permission" blah blah.

I am the copyright owner of the product I'm selling (which is sold in the digital domain as an email attachment)

Yet, the overly "you're a criminal" style email, that one cannot reply to at all, leaves only a link to contact eBay, which is...guess....a phone number to call USA and wait in cue, in order to resolve this crap they came up with.

To add insult to injury, they required me to take a tutorial, before I could relist.

Now I don't dare relist the item until I've called and resolved this matter, because further "violations" means they will suspend my account. An account I've worked on since 2004 to get a good 100% feedback rating.

Couldn't eBay, have simply contacted me and quite simply ASKED if I was the copyright owner to begin with?

eBay puts me off selling, their listing fees is quite crap, whether you sell something or not within their usual 1 month timeframe, they will still withdraw money.

What I'm selling:
Custom sound sets for a synthesizer (which I created 100% myself), with associated PDF file as a reference card. After purchase, I send an email to the buyer and attach the sound files and PDF file. I charge 9.95USD per sale and eBay asks for about 1USD for listing and sometimes at the end of each month I must pay a ridiculous 5USD (even if I don't sell anything)
So now I must cover phone charges to USA, which will be more than 9.95USD, which means I must sell at least a few sound sets, just to cover the phone call.

Its just a matter of time, before someone that has bought my sounds, will post them on warez forums via rapidshare or something, making my +10 years hard work worthless.

Anyone else had their listing removed for "biased, false reasons" ?

    Thanks Fog for your suggestion.
I was thinking of making a dedicated site with domain e.t.c. to promote and was also thinking of a paypal module.
But its on a list of "long term projects when I finish everything else my wife tells me to do around the house."
So the eBay is temporary and gives an indication of how much interest there is for it, before I pay for domain e.t.c.
(Although I will probably end up doing it anyway as its a nice hobby)

The sounds are for a hardware synthesizer. Patches I've designed and put together as a complete set which you can load into it via Sysex exclusive. You know, old skool, before the advent of soft synths :)

Is it worth just trying customerhelp_uk@ebay.com ?

I've used that and they do get back to you.

Better sell over Iran or chinese ebay. USA is a known member of axis of evil.
I always exclude bidders from USA, Australia and such countries

I was under the impression that purely digital sales were prohibited under the eBay T&Cs anyway. Has that changed recently?

which synth though ? if it's say dx7 , they can load into NI fm8 etc..

but just put a message on the yahoo msg group for that synth and a few forums.

I still have an mu128 fitted with 2 plg cards.

but mainly use soft synths like sylenth1 , rapture , z3ta 1& 2 + the NI ones etc etc

I'd love to know what synth too. I have a Yamaha SY77, Roland D10 and a Roland 2080.
