The Illustration Thread

edited September 2012 in Chit chat
So, since we have a lot of talented people on this here forum, why not show off!
This thread is for illustration, graphics, paintings, etc and maybe we could have a thread called 'The Photography Thread'.

So, I'll start off. I've been doing a lot of paintings and have a few more to do.
I've just finished this one - acrylics on canvas, 23.5" x 11.5" in size.

not bad... obviously you're still an amateur, so keep up the doodling and one day you might come up with something half decent :)

if I can find my masterpiece 'wayne rooney scoring a diving header' (crayon on A4 paper) then we can really get the thread rolling...

Pretty nice. Looks like you're yearning for winter! Is there any backstory to this painting? Somewhere you know or a photo you saw?

Good idea for a thread :-)

i agree, that dog is really too big.
  • Nice work.

Sadly my artistic skills are lamentable. I once got 15% in an art exam when I painted half an orange. The teacher read out our results in descending order. Needless to say he read mine out last. To be fair, I was lucky to get 15%.

One of the few things I've ever drawn that was half-decent was a copy of a Rambo advert (I think it was Rambo III). I wish I still had it so I could post it up.

My sister is the arty one and she was better at Manic Miner than me BITD :(

    should've painted a whole orange and got 30%? :)

I thought it was either a cat or a lion (depending on whether the picture was depicting Essex).
I wanna tell you a story 'bout a woman I know...

    The sky is good!

I personally have a rule that says "Only draw/paint manmade objects"
Animals lack straight lines and right angles. :)

Yeah, last March I went up to Iceland and on one of the days I went out in a 4x4 jeep away off the beaten tracks and took some amazing photos - which I'll put in 'The Photography Thread' - and when we got to the south coast by an extinct volcano we came across these stables. I took a photo used in the above painting (though I made some artistic changes). There were a few Icelandic horses, all black apart from this one pale horse. The house itself is right at the cliff edge to the sea. There is no land mass between that cliff and the Antarctic.

    Anyway, less chat more pics!

There's a photography thread started by Scottie. I think your Icelandic horses are on there (on last page) :)

There are some cracking photos on that thread.

The only real artistic thing I've ever done was to draw a copy of Skin's Look But Don't Touch single with Pandora Peroxide kneeing someone in the ********.

Someone from my art class knicked it when I wasn't in :(
Oh, no. Every time you turn up something monumental and terrible happens.
I don’t think I have the stomach for it.

I've got some rather cartoony doodles I could put up....all my artier stuff is hidden away in the back of a cupboard somewhere......

Here's something to start with....the first (and only) episode of a comic strip I did starring a character I created called Splotch The Mad Alien....the basic premise was ripped off from an episode of Dangermouse....everything that Splotch's friend Kay-B says or thinks of suddenly seems to happen...

That's it deadpan, keep them coming.

Okay, here's another couple of mine. Another recent painting, which some of you may recognise, only with added psychology:

I drew this 2 days ago for absolutely no reason whatsoever....well OK I was little bit annoyed about something, and this was 3 minutes of my time well spent I guess.

I got bored before I could finish it off.

It's certainly no masterpiece though :D

The latest stencil I painted; Hunter S. Thompson, stencilled onto pages of his book "Kingdom of Fear".

I got as far as planning out the next two bits, but didn't actually get them done.....I must have started hundreds of comic strips over the years but then never finished them.....

Anyway, here's a drawing I spent a bit more time on....

The Irresponsible Forbush Man (copied from issue 20 of Marvel's "What The?!") & Doc Simson - Psychiatrist to the Super-Heroes....(copied from issue 18 of "What The?!")

Both of these were done in August 1992 when I'd be about...ooh...15...

Damn that makes me wish I still had my pic of Ash from Evil Dead with the chainsaw, entitled "Who's Laughing now?", from around about the same time. I'd have been about 13, and my drawing started getting quite weird, as some of my plastic raver/charva mates round my way were introducing me to drink n' drugs, and my cousin just straight let me smoke weed at his house.

Some of the drawings I did there were better than anything I can come up with now, infact some of the drawings I did when I was really f**ked up were pretty good.

I have or at least had a real portfolio, of stuff I'd actually done that I took my time with, drawings, paintings, photos of things I'd made by hand and the like.

Gave up on it all really when I was about 17 or 18, did some CAD around about then, then just haven't really picked up a pencil or pen for ages.

Until the other day when I scrawled that baldy radgee :D

Hehe...I dabbled with drawing Ash myself! :D

That's meant to be him after the "future" ending of the third film....

I haven't really drawn anything for years either! Keep meaning to get back to it.....
  • edited September 2012
The future ending was our ending, thus ending the series (or leading it down a f**ked up road of robo-zombies? :D), the American ending sees him back in S-Mart like nothing happened, and that's where the video game series takes it's canon from.
