But not freeview? I honestly don't know the difference, but you need the box to make it work.
Why don't you try a variable control signal booster between the antenna and the TV? If the freeview box is providing enough boost to get a picture, then surely a simple booster will also do the job?
Despite what everyone's saying, it is technically feasible to get more than one channel at a time out of a box with a single tuner, however, I don't know if any STB actually supports this. I doubt it , tbh, simply because it would make switching channels a bit unwieldy.
Note: For those who doubt the ability to receive more than one channel on a single tuner - freeview is transmitted using "multiplexes" (muxs for short). Each mux contains streams for several channels, so when your STB recevies any channel, it's already receiving several at once, and simply discarding all of them except the one you've selected.
As an example, I have a Freeview USB dongle here, which only has a single tuner. Nevertheless, in conjunction with suitable software such as nPVR, I can watch several channels at the same time, even on different PCs if I wish, all from this one dongle, provided all of the channels are on the same mux. Once, to test this idea, I had BBC1, BBC2, BBC3, BBC4 and BBC News all running in different windows at the same time :)
You are running multiple MPEG decoders though to decode all the individual streams. It would certainly be possible for a set top box to do this if it had enough processing power (or multiple hardware MPEG decoders). However this doesn't change the fact that they have only one video output. Decoding the stream is only half the job :)

I had considered that, actually :p As I said, I doubt any STB supports it. The user interface would be rather clunky for a start!
Incidentally, a lot of STBs have more than one output - although these usually give identical signals, this is not always the case - I've had STBs before that left out the onscreen display from the second output, which was intended to be connected to a VCR. Yes, it's still ultimately coming from the same source, but it doesn't necessarily have to be that way :)

Having two different outputs would need two sets of hardware to generate the signals. Not a lot of point unless it has two tuners otherwise you can only watch channels the same mux so why bother :)

Er, thanks for letting us know!
I'm glad you started that thread as things have been quiet in here, the only really actve thread seems to be the one i started about Jimmy Saville!
So, it's been a fair few pages already. For those of us who are lethargic of mind-and-abledness-to-read, could someone sum up what's what, please?
Here's what I gathered:
Graz said: "I can watch two different channels on two separate TVs using this one Freeview box!"
Others collectively said: :No, that's unpossable!"
Graz(or maybe someone else?): "But, but..."
Others collectively back-and-forth: "...And here's why it's unpossable..."
And that's sort of where I got confused and bored with the whole thing.
I believe Graz, but I also believe in the collective technimalological know-how of the Posse'o'WoSsers.
I confused.
I sleep.
Zzz.
( To misquote the Whamsters: Wake me up after you know know. )

The answer is, that I can only watch 2 different freeview channels on 2 tellies with my one Freeview box connected. But... it's sort of an illusion as the box isn't actually providing the channels to both sets as it appears. In actual fact, the box is amplifying the signal to the second telly as the telly is too weak to do it on it's own.
And there we have it.
Znorky? Hey, wake up, I'm explain-in-ating it to you!

so basically, you should have made a thread along the lines of.
'oh wow guys, i plugged a tv ariel into my tv and got a some tv channels. just letting you guys know.'

If I did, then that would indeed be news. They turned the analogue signal off a few months ago.
Incidently, isn't the digital switch-over the best organised long-term plan this country has ever achieved? Round about 1986-88 it was revealed on da news that the switchover would occur in 2012. Okay, so the final result isn't exactly what they promised digi telly to be, but we got it bang on time. Me finx that's clever.

Gah! YOU KNOW WHAT I MEANT! :p
Can we go on about Savile again now.:D:D:D:D
...and to be honest it's not something we wanted to know.
read my threads then :p

Huh, what?!?!
It was all a dream which was being amplified by a box...
(I think I need to sleep more ... or less ... or whichever happens sooner/later)
