Lighter: Better Than Raw

So, (Burn The) Lighter's back! And don't ask me why I had to skip issue two at that point.

Better%20Than%20Raw%201.png
Better%20Than%20Raw%203.png

Works alright on 48K machines.
Works just as right on 48K+AY (no AY music due to memory constraints :().
Works fine on 128K machines, except for snaily text scrolling.
Works perfectly on Pentagon and Scorpion clones, regardless of their amount of RAM.

Thanks to Gasman for porting this over. Naturally, I tried to edit the "yerzmyey/hprg" line in issue 3 with the hex editor, without changing the size of the .tap itself, but now the edited tape image loads up horribly wrong for whatever reason, so... The typo is still in there, just so you would know.

Issue four of the Better Than Raw issue pack is already available in Russian and has recently been translated to English (so now it's only up to convert that crap into the tape image). Issues five, six and probably seven are coming up next. So...

Always. Stay. Tuned.

Issue 3 here.
Issue 4 here.

The CRC of last file is wrong and I got a tape loading error. Anyway, nice test of my "Earthraid" ;).

By the way, does anyone want to see the TRD version of issue 4 in English? I know Gasman might be busy with porting it over, but I know you're gotta love the upcoming articles in the said release. :)

Okay, never mind, it's already here.

    Link me beautiful!

    Maybe I could help.

A diskdrive version with GASMAN mentioned, as it should be:
    http://yerzmyey.republika.pl/BTL03E.zip

Will try to do TAP with "GASMAN" in a moment.

Okay, thanks a lot, Yerz! I swear I gotta learn how to do the tape conversions by myself... :)

The only thing I'd like to mention is that there is a bunch of bytes left in by Modern Word, and that those are visible in the end of the mag, so...

Here's the proper TRD version quickly re-compiled by me.

    great, great. Thx!

As for my work here, I don't know how to move the file into TAP form without problems.
It loads "articles" file from TAP properly but shows only a half of them or something like that.
So You have guyz the correct TRD but You have to copy the "articles" file into TAP by Yourselves.

Personally, I'm using the TRD and SCL plugins for Total Commander. As I recall, there is also one for TAP files. Although you might use those already, don't you? :)

And it shows only half of the article due to the fact it makes a huge gap between the parts of a one text file. I'm not sure what's wrong with that, but Moroz1999 says it's all because of the files loading in a completely wrong order.

    OK dude, check dis out:
    http://yerzmyey.republika.pl/BTL03E_tap.zip

_Should_ be correct now, with TAP, with "GASMAN", without the mess on the bottom of the screen.
    I hope it's OK.

Okay, so now I'm open for feedback and, if possible, new articles for the upcoming issues.

Talking about, Lighter 4 has an interesting article on how we can use Spectranet in the nearest future, which might make you guys curious, I know. :) Well, if it already made me curious...

Wait, so the final final version, which changes the credit from Yerzmyey to me, was actually produced by Yerzmyey... so now I should really put together a final final final version, which properly credits Yerzmyey for producing the final final *head explodes*

Downloaded yesterday but did not have time to try it, I will try tonight to have a look into it :)

Jeez, we're indeed something like brothers or what. ;) ;) While doing it I was thinking exactly the same joke but I stated I will not write this on Forum because it was too crazy and complicated even in native language, not to mention how to put it in English, hahahahahah.
    =8-D

Of course for serious, there should be "Gasman" written because it was the main and impossible for me job to tinker with non-basic loading, so I had to give up.

    Greetz. :)

Wait, wasn't the final final final version supposed to have BOTH those names mentioned? XD

    Okay, I'll pass this joke.

This is a great mag. Its nice to read some new stuff about the speccy, especially from Russia. Its good to see that the scene in Russia is still alive and well. And, I also cant quite believe that we may be seeing civilisation appearing on the speccy. YAY!

Not only from Russia, but, as you may evidence, from Ukraine too! :)

That's considering I live in Ukraine.

BTW, what did you meant under "civilization" in your context?

    A game, I understood.
The ZX version of "Civilization", I gather.

    Oh. Right then. :D

There is an alpha of this game hanging around zx-pk.ru, I might place it here in a moment.

By the way, what's your opinion on the idea of "diskmaggy" web surfing on Spectranet, guys?
