Well taking a slight break from Parasite Eve as I've just had a fighter jet crashed into me.....GAME OVER!...and so on.

Although I will say Parasite Eve is the only game I've ever played where you're actively seeking a sperm bank so you can ruin the contents.

    Well anyway completely different subject:D

Dynamite Deka works so well through the PS2 emu, I decided to take the plunge and DL another one of the Sega Ages. I know I said I wanted to play it on my own Saturn again, but I did when I went back home last year for a little bit. So I'm DL'ing Panzer Dragoon (pity Sega couldn't see to it to bring out Panzer II and Saga as well the stupid buggers ), and basically I'm hoping it runs as well as Dynamite Deka, it's another saturn game so I see no reason why it shouldn't?

Fingers Crossed, I'll actually be really chuffed if it works :D

I'm attempting to play Wonder Boy 3 the Dragon's Trap....

    ... and failing!

Wonder Boy is a funny old series, I only liked the original, the arcade version of 3 (the half platform half shooter one), and IV (Or Monsterworld, Dragons Trap, Monsterworld Story, or whatever you want to call it? There's so many different versions around with different sprites for the main character?). But basically the last Wonderboy game to come out officially.

  • I've only played the original, Monsterland (aka Super Wonder Boy) and Dragon's Trap.
I think they're all pretty decent.

I bought that yesterday, but I'm away until Thursday so I've not.had chance to play it yet. I'm looking forward to it though :-)

I've gotten into it now, it is really good. I still don't think it gives you as much choice as all the reviews make out, but it is opening up a bit now. Reminds me a little of the Thief series, with a hint of BioShock thrown in for good measure...

I may give up on the PS2 emulation, I can't even run the Sega Ages version of Fist of the North Star/Hokuto No Ken, even though I can run the actual arcade conversion perfectly.

It seems to slow down to a crawl whenever there are more than 2 enemies on screen, maybe that's why the arcade version works so well, as there's only ever 2 characters onscreen at once? Kuon, and Cold Fear run perfectly, but like they've taken valium, there's no jerking around it's like somebody turned slo-mo on and jammed the button by accident. Frameskipping just seems to make the games strobe a lot, turning certain other properties up or down seems to do absolutely nothing?

I'm still trying to get the Sega Ages version of Panzer Dragoon, for some reason the download keeps freezing, but I'm curious if it'll run. Dynamite Deka runs full speed in Dynamite Deka mode, or Sega Saturn mode, and that has enemies all over the place, So I'm wondering if Panzer Dragoon will run full speed or chug like the other games I've tried?

Anyway in the mean time I'll probably play Parasite Eve again, even though it's actually starting to get on my nerves a bit now, I just want to finish it off and play something else.

Well I DL'd an N64 emu for the grand total of the 4 games that are worth having.

    Which are basically...

    Sin and Punishment.
    Doom 64.
    Goldeneye.
    Lylat Wars.

Didn't bother with the Zelda games as I'm going to buy them in one form or another one day, I want them on some form of real media, and basically I'm not going to waste my time playing Mario or anything like that, I'd rather own that in some real form as well if I was going to play it.

Don't know if it's the emu or just the N64 in general but there seems to be some chronic gamma issues, everything seems so dark.

Been in f***in' agony since Wednesday after getting my impacted wisdom tooth removed, so haven't been playing much....

Did manage to finish Serious Sam - First Encounter HD on the 360 though, and have now moved on to Second Encounter to try and do that before Serious Sam 3 - BFE comes out on XBLA....

Also built a bit more of my castle in Minecraft and restarted Manhunt on PS2 to refresh my memory of it before I write about it on my blog...forgot how much fun it is hiding in the shadows waiting to pounce! :D

I think I'll try and make a proper go of Resident Evil on Gamecube later, having yet to complete that version...I'll see how it goes.....

It's a lot harder than just plain old Resi-Evil I find, but not that much of a chore......Doing it in 3 hours seems like a right f**k on though, never managed it a couple of years back when I got the game, and haven't tried it again since.

Might have a Res-Evil mararthon once I finally finish GTA San Andreas off, if I ever get back to playing it again :D

If I do go Res-Evil mental though the question is do I play REmake on the Wii, or Resi-1 or Directors cut on PS1? I may start a marathon if I do it with Resi-0 just for the hell of it since I haven't played through it since I got it.

Nah, there's more good games than that on N64...unfortunately stuff like Space Station Silicon Valley, Blast Corps, Body Harvest and a lot of the other good ones don't emulate very well....

Here's a few more that work okay with Project 64....

    Duke Nukem - Zero Hour
    Conker's Bad Fur Day
    Snowbo Kids
    Excitebike 64
    Donkey Kong 64
Might have a Res-Evil mararthon once I finally finish GTA San Andreas off, if I ever get back to playing it again :D

I was thinking of going for a Resi-marathon too....and then buying 6 and giving that a bash as well!

    No sorry...

    Space Station Silicon Valley....sh*t!
    Blast Corps....sh*t!
Body Harvest.....Super sh*t (I'm sure mile will be round to stab me, but....sh*t!)!
    Duke Nukem - Zero Hour......really....really....REALLY...sh*t!
    Snowbo Kids...sh*t!
    Excitebike 64....rather big sh*t, I'm afraid!
Donkey Kong 64.....not totally sh*te, but let's face it it's well boring.

I might get Conkers, if I'm really bored, but I'm mainly aiming for horror and maybe RPG's these days.

Oh come on, if I can completely finish REmake and get the director's message (unlock everything and complete all modes) then anybody can :p

Did REmake appear on the Wii? I know they did those "Archive" releases on the Wii but I don't think I got any of them.

Good luck choosing what version to play, they're all good :D
Oh, no. Every time you turn up something monumental and terrible happens.
I don’t think I have the stomach for it.

Still can't get my bloody mits on that Panzer Dragoon, so I settled for the next best thing Gamera 2000. It's quite fun, but now I've had a quick bash of that it's back to Parasite Eve, I'm determined to finish it off this week.

EDIT: Downloaded Real Bout Garou Densetsu Special: Dominated Mind...

...simply for the fact that it sees the return of one of SNK's most obscure Fatal Fury characters, most of the original FF characters have popped up in other FF or KOF type games. What literally made me DL this game in the first place was that I saw a screenshot from it that had Hwa Jai in it. Hwa Jai is the headswap kickboxer from the original Fatal Fury, and even though you couldn't play as him he was one of my fave characters (You could play as him in the VS mode on the SNES conversion of Fatal Fury). In the original Fatal Fury when you started beating him somebody would throw a bottle of hot chilli sauce into the arena, he'd catch it, drink it, turn bright red, and go absolutely mental :D

Another weird thing is I'm having to play the .iso file, as for some insane reason if I try to burn it it tells me the disc is 6.3GB, even though the folder is only 269MB, and everything in there is uncompressed? I have no idea what that's about?

It'll be the only PS1 .iso I keep on my PC, I like to burn my oddball Jap titles to disc so I can play them on a real machine, and since I'm a good boy I like to actually buy the titles that will run on my actual machine ;)

Unfortunately after having a quick look at it, it appears he's either an unlockable or a boss character, as he doesn't seem to be playable from the get go? Who knows maybe he isn't playable at all? The whole game's in Japanese? Even the menus, and usually Jap games have some English text on the menus....Nope! Not this one! :D

One thing I did notice that is quite funny, and nerdy cool (read uncool), but should put a smile on SNK fighter fans faces. On the character selection screen Geese Howard has a little halo above his head

Talking of which I downloaded B-Boy for the PS2, and I think I like it :D

I may have to purchase a real copy, as it runs OK, but it's a one I think I'd like to play on the real machine.

I went to the finals of the B-Boy Championships the other night (and saw Crazy Legs!! Awesome!), and it got me in the mood to start playing that again too. I remember being completely and utterly stuck on the bit I was on though. Not a bad little game, but it really does get tough later on (for me anyway)...

Worms Revolution (Steam) which came out a week ago, played with a few mates using Teamspeak. One of 'em almost wet himself laughing. Not too much has changed from earlier versions but I didn't have any Worms on my PC since Worms 2 ages ago, so made sense to grab this one. Good times

Still suffering with pain from that tooth extraction....going to get it checked again at the dentist tommorow....so I've been playing bits here and there of various games when the painkillers kicked in!

One of them was Alien VS Predator on 360....just completed the Marine missions and got a bit further in the other campaigns too, and I'm actually really enjoying it despite it getting rubbish reviews! Far from perfect, but still a decent shooter....Predator missions are still a bit of a disappointment though!

Also started Resident Evil 0 again, and seem to be whizzing through it compared to my first playthrough years ago....seems a lot easier than the REmake! Mind you, I've just got to the bit where the crazy leech monster things are, so it could all go downhill from there..... :D
